Won Kyungjun (Korean: 원경준), known professionally as just Kyungjun (경준), is a South Korean singer, dancer and choreographer under LILAC Studios. He first rose to prominence as a contestant of MBS talent search competition Sol Puzzle in 2021. In 2022, he competed in survival audition show Star Maker X 101 as a trainee representing 4Bloc Music, where he finished in 23rd place. He is currently a member of the boy group MERAVI.
Personal life and career[]
Kyungjun was born in Mokpo, South Korea on August 24, 2002. His mother is Won Ye-bin, a retired singer who was active under the stage name Ziona from 1993 to 1998, while his father is a commercial deep sea diver. Although he hails from South Jeolla Province, he has lived in Seoul since he was four, but moved to Sydney, Australia from 2009 to 2012 as an international student. After becoming a fanboy of idol artists such as FINEKIZ and Wanna One, he was inspired to pursue a career in the music industry. He served as a backup dancer for several artists such as Ni.U, Xavier Luna, Kim Yo-han and Jang Min-ju.
At 14 years old, he began applying for entertainment agencies and passed auditions for several big companies. From late 2018 to 2020, he was a trainee of Belift Lab (a joint subsidiary of Big Hit Entertainment and CJ ENM) and was slated to be in the survival show I-Land, but left before the contestants were being gathered.
2021: Sol Puzzle[]
Sometime in early 2021, Kyungjun auditioned for MBS talent search competition Sol Puzzle. After initially failing the individual auditions, he was grouped with auditionees Kyler Kim and Jeong Hancheol for a second attempt. The trio successfully passed their second screening and named themselves as Holy Trinity, a name that was decided by Kyungjun. Holy Trinity made it past the first two missions, but was eliminated after placing 3rd in the elimination battle following their loss against girl group SOLSTICE during a cover battle of XOXO's "Troubles Of My Own".
Holy Trinity disbanded after the program's conclusion, but promised to "meet again in the future". Kyungjun later opened a personal Instagram account which hit over 60k followers in the first week. He later apologized for moments where he showed poor behavior during the show that led him to become the subject of several evil edits.
2022–2023: Star Maker X 101, MERAVI[]
In early 2022, Kyungjun would join 4Bloc Music as a trainee. In May 2022, Kyungjun was confirmed as a contestant of survival audition show Star Maker X 101 representing the company alongside Ji Byeonghwi, Kyler Kim & Han Yul. Throughout the show, he would show massive improvement in comparison to his Project SOL performances, consistently climbing up the ranks. In the fourth ranking ceremony, he was eliminated by judges and roughly placed 23rd.
On September 24, 2022, Kyungjun was revealed as the fourth member of LILAC Studios's first ever group, MERAVI. He made his official debut with the group on January 11, 2023, earning recognition as one of the group's choreographers.
