"We're In This For Life" is a song by K-pop boy band Anomii, released as the second single from their debut extended play (EP) Do You Even Know What True Love Is?. The lyrics were written by Jeon Miyoung, Hong Heonbo, and Kim Sungwon, and produced by SYNTHIA and Heera.
COMPOSITION[]
"We're In This For Life" is a melodic rap and K-pop song composed in the key of G Major, with a tempo of 90 beats-per-minute (BPM). The lyrics features themes of loyalty and emotional support, centered around a character who suffered from loneliness and repression of their emotions until they met a particular person, whom they built an authentic connection with. In the chorus, the person expresses an unwavering and committed support to the said person, promising them that their bond is long-lasting and he will be there for them until the end.
In the group's pre-debut showcase, member Song Wonchan said: "To me, I feel like We're In This For Life is the song that encapsulates the album's title [Do You Even Know What True Love Is?] the most. I believe true love is a genuine connection, whether romantic or platonic, that simply cannot be broken by just a single storm. It's one where they become anchors for one another that they can rely on during their darkest times."
MUSIC VIDEO[]
The music video was released on August 18, 2025, and stars Kim Sooyun and Xavier Luna as university student Kang Jimin and her older brother, respectively. The music video begins with Jimin struggling hard with reviewing for her examinations, causing her to have a meltdown and eventually falling asleep on the couch. Jimin's brother walks by her open door and sighs in annoyance, putting a blanket on her before returning to his bedroom. The following day, the two are seen preparing for their morning routines as if they don't know each other's existence, implying that they have a poor relationship as siblings. However, a change seems to happen as her brother cooks her breakfast instead of them just making their own food. Jimin seems to have appreciated the act, as she flashes a smile at him before going to her classes. Days later, Jimin is running late for an internship interview in Seoul, and her brother commutes with her as they manage to make it to the office in his motorcycle just in time.
The following week, they visit a funeral home, revealing that their single mother had passed away from tuberculosis just two months prior, and for the finally, they are seen behaving like close siblings. In early December, during her brother's 33rd birthday, Jimin decorates the apartment by herself, wanting to surprise him because he had never received something like it before. His brother, who arrived home looking exhausted, almost breaks down in tears as he sees the cake, and the two pull each other into a hug. Four days after Christmas, Jimin wakes up, anticipating her brother's return from a vacation with his co-workers, but text messages asking her to not look at the news is filling up her phone. She opens the television, and she falls to the floor as she finds out that the plane that her brother was on had crashed with no survivors.
On the first month of the New Year, Jimin spends her days in despair, eating food by herself and cleaning her brother's bedroom. She tears up when she discovers a box of money and belongings that he wanted Jimin to inherit in the case of an emergency, as well as a belated holiday gift that he was supposed to give to her for New Year's Eve. At her workplace, she received a lot of condolences and even sympathy gifts from colleagues, but all she ever wanted is her family back together. While waiting at a bus station, she sees her brother sitting in the shed across and smiling proudly at her, but his apparition disappears as a car passes by and temporarily obstructs her view.
The music video was interpreted by some music critics as a tribute to the victims of an aviation tragedy that occurred just months prior in South Korea. While some netizens felt like the music video was too soon, many commended the music video's storyline and cinematography. One critic noted, "I absolute dislike the way pop culture capitalizes on tragedies and human suffering to pique interest, but the video was respectful and humanized victims by portraying them as people who had real lives and relationships instead of just mere unfortunate statistics."
