wakeupvixxenn!!! (웨이크업빅센), commonly abbreviated as vxn!, is a fifth-generation South Korean idol group formed by Kwang Entertainment in 2023. The group consists of six members: heyyohaley, chassis, tex, hongkongjimmi, rox, and aparicion. They are most well known for their surreal and wordy song and album titles and also bringing prominence to the powerviolence and sludge metal genres in South Korea.
History[]
Pre-debut
The formation of wakeupvixxenn!!! began as a "perfectly timed coincidence", as described by Haneul Lee of idol group Orion. In 2022, he had pitched the idea of another metal group to Johnny Kwang. Just at the same time, Kwang trainees Haley Park, now known as heyyohaley, and Tess Shavarshian-Kim, now known as tex, had ideas of a metal based idol group themselves. Kwang Entertainment introduced the pair to Haneul, after a video of the two, among the other future members of the group was leaked, depicting them having a pizza party and jam session in the trainee dorm shared by Park, Shavarshian-Kim, and Leung Ji-mei, now known as hongkongjimmy. They spent some time perfecting the idea before running the idea by Kwang again to which the company greenlit the pitch.
The final lineup was confirmed in early 2023, consisting of Park, Shavarshian-Kim, and Leung along side trainees Kang Eun-ji, Roxanne Ryu, and Aizhan Narimanova. Unlike most K-pop idols, the members of vxn! were chosen for their close friendship during their trainee periods and were put together at the requests of Park, Shavarshian-Kim, Leung and Lee.
2023-2024: Debut, early success, and first world tour
They debuted on September 9, 2023, with the extended play (EP) sorry if this is weird, but do you like me???. The EP debuted number twenty on the Gaon Album Chart and Billboard World Albums Chart and entered the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts at number 99, and vxn! quickly developed a passionate fanbase called "vixxenns".
Despite—or perhaps because of—its unconventional nature, "sorry if this is weird, but do you like me???" garnered significant attention online. While some critics dismissed the group as too niche for mainstream appeal, others praised their audacity and fresh approach to K-pop.
In March 2024, they embarked on their first world tour titled, first tour!!! we're taking over the world teehee!!!, with stops in Japan, China and USA.
2025-present: First studio album, double headliner tour with LPZO
In January 2025, vxn! announced two major milestones: the release of their first studio album and their participation in a groundbreaking double headliner world tour with their labelmate LPZO.
vxn!’s debut studio album, hands???? most definitely!!!!!!, is set to release on April 8, 2025. The album promises to take their abrasive, genre-defying sound to new heights, combining their signature powerviolence elements with experimental production and unexpected collaborations. The group described the album as “a manifesto of resistance and a celebration of individuality,” staying true to their rebellious ethos.
In support of the album, the vxn!/LPZO we combine forces megatour!!! was officially announced on January 5, 2025, via a joint livestream featuring Johnny Kwang and all of Kwang Entertainment's artists. During the announcement, the members shared their excitement about collaborating with LPZO and connecting with their global fanbases in an unforgettable way. LPZO added that the tour would “merge two worlds of sound and chaos” and hinted at potential joint performances during the shows.
