The Girl (더걸) is a 6 member girl group under LSG Entertainment. They debuted on March 1, 2024 with the mini album The Beginning. The original lineup had 4 different members; Leila and Sofiya left the group in September 2024, with Nahyun and Mayuree following suit in November of that year. Amélie joined the group the same month, with Esther Kwon, Madison Thao and Marina Brahimi added to the group's lineup after winning HKRT x LSG survival show The Reboot in January 2025.
History[]
Pre-debut[]
Members Nahyun, Yeoreum and Alice were contestants on MY ROOKIE IDOL. Nahyun & Alice were eliminated in the finale but Yeoreum finished in 3rd place, becoming a member of DREAMHOUR.
On December 20, 2023 the 6 members were announced by LSG Entertainment, along with a debut date of Spring 2024. On January 5, 2024 LSG Entertainment confirmed they would debut in March of that year.
On January 11, 2024 LSG Entertainment posted an album teaser video for The Beginning and revealed it's tracklist. This included a release date of March 1, 2024.
2024: "The Beginning", "The Sequel"[]
The Beginning's pre-relase single "KITSCH" was released on February 16, 2024, along with its music video. On March 1, 2024, their debut mini album "The Beginning" was released, along with a music video for lead single "Baddie".
On July 26, 2024, LSG Entertainment announced The Girl would release their 1st single album "HEYA" on August 16, 2024.
Members Leila and Sofiya left The Girl and its label on September 25, 2024, after less than 6 months in the group.
Nahyun and Mayuree were removed from the group's LSG website profile on November 2, 2024. Neither member, nor LSG, announced their departure from The Girl, but LSG would later refer to the group as having 2 members, seemingly confirming Ku and Chaisongkram had left.
2024-2025: The Reboot, "The Mixtape"[]
On November 13, 2024, VIIXEN member Amélie Zhang was added as the group's 3rd current member. LSG stated she would promote in both The Girl and VIIXEN simultaneously, and hinted at future member additions.
Just 2 days later, LSG unveiled their upcoming survival show The Reboot, in collaboration with HKRT to begin airing on November 30, 2024. The survival show features 12 female LSG trainees, with the 3 winners joining The Girl, completing the lineup.
Esther Kwon, Madison Thao and Marina Brahimi were added to the groups lineup after winning The Reboot. The show was met with immense controversy, with accusations of rigging, hypocrisy, noise marketing, evil editing and more.
On March 1, 2025, The Girl's first debut anniversary, former member Mayuree Chaisongkram published a video online announcing she would be filing a lawsuit against LSG Entertainment due to workplace mistreatment.. She alleged that she and Nahyun Ku were forced out of the group in order to make room for more popular members. She also claimed that Jang Yeoreum was given more freedom and privileges than her groupmates due to her popularity, and that labelmates DREAMSCAPE had levels of creative control that The Girl were denied. Finally, Chaisongkram confirmed suspicions that LSG inflated their artists' chart successes through means such as payola and excess playlisting.
Ku, as well as former member Leila Phan, supported Chaisongkram's video while LSG released a statement denying all claims, labelling her a "disgruntled former employee" and stating they will fight her in court.
On March 14, 2025, as LSG were still mid-lawsuit, The Girl's first single with the new lineup, "JUSAWI", was surprise released.
2 days later, on March 16, LSG announced the release of The Girl's 2nd EP, "The Mixtape". The EP's tracklist and album cover were unveiled simultaneously.
"The Mixtape" was released on April 4, 2024 and met vast commercial success, despite mixed critical reactions. Its 2nd single "Lalalala" was released the same day.
