TRØX (트륵스: pron. t-röx) is a seven-member South Korean boy group formed under Luna Entertainment. They debuted on August 10, 2020 with pre-release single "Savage". The group has one active sub-unit - JINX (징크스).
Etymology[]
Name TRØX (트륵스) is harder pronounced word "TRICK", it symbolises groups demonic concept and evil nature (on stage of course). Accoriding to legends from many places in the world, devils and other evil creatures were making tricks on people. Letter "Ø", which makes the name distinguishable, is called "The Broken Six", it's purpose is showing number of group members, which is 7, which also has a meaning - 7 main sins representation.
Fanclub[]
Name Orbs came from paranormal phenomen, the glowing balls which are sometimes visible during many paranormal activities, showing that the fans are always around TRØX. It's also supposed to fit the dark concept of the group. "Orbs" also sounds a bit like word "Ours", which also has a meaning and shows big meaning of fans for the group's members, who literally belongs to them.
Concept[]
TRØX's concept mostly bases on demonology, dark magic, paranormal stuff or just darkness and fear, there are also elements of ocultism with gothic, churchesque esthetic appearing from time to time. Group sometimes makes their concept more elegant, with strong boy-crush elements, but doesn't refuse to experiment with their image like in "GLITTERBLUD" era. Main goal is to make group as dark (and controversial) as possible. In their imaginary universe the members are incarnations of seven kings of hell and has alternate names from Ars Goetia.
Background[]
In June 2016 new k-pop company Luna Entertainment announced a casting for new girl and boy group with undefined number of members. The candidates were sending virtual auditions thought the website and the most promising ones were invited to Seoul for 2nd round on July 1, 2016. Some people were invited without giving auditions, found by staff in various ways. Day after casting Luna Entertainment announced the 7 male trainees: Hajoon, Jinsang, Ray, Saetang, Sean, Seungri and Xao, who will be training as Eclipse Trainees. The group didn't had any line-up changes and they were preparing their debut. In summer 2018 they have received their demonic concept and group name - TRØX. After another two years of training and preparations, TRØX got their debut date decided - August 10, 2020. Three days before their debut, TRØX appeared in 108th episode of Resident Idol.
Career[]
2020; Debut, "Helldom" album[]
TRØX debuted on August 10, 2020 with pre-release single "Savage", which was planned to be one of the tracks of their upcoming album and gave them their 1st win. One month later, their 2nd pre-release single - "Watching You" was released. Their 3rd and last pre-release single before the album was their halloween special - "Monster Inside of Me", since then boys fully focus on their 1st studio album, which will consist all these 3 songs. On December 7, 2020 the album "Helldom" was released, with "Run" as it's title track. On December 20 the have released their christmas single "Seven Days". On December 25, 2020 they made another appearance in 130th episode of Resident Idol.
2021; Seungri's scandal, Battle of Stardom, line-up changes, Jinsang's hiatus[]
In January, TRØX started their comeback preparations, however on January 4, 2021 it was confirmed Seungri is going on hiatus because of "personal reasons", later confirmed by Ray to be actually forced by company, because of beating-up other member - Xao. On week later, on March 13, another member - Sean went on the hiatus because of health reasons. Finally on March 8, 2021 TRØX made their comeback with digital songle "I'm Not Full", with only 5 members, day after Seungri was announced to be kicked out the group and the company. On March 21, TRØX were confirmed as one of 10 groups participating in Battle of Stardom. During the show group has two line-up changes, on April 19 Sean returned from his hiatus for BOS episode 5 and on May 14 new member - Nix was added to the group, making it have 7 members again. In May group also announced their first OT7 comeback with Nix. For the finale of BOS TRØX released their contest song - "Physical", group failed to win, placing 6th/10. On October 18, Jinsang went on hiatus to be host of Luna Entertainment's survival show - Arena of Hope: Royal Feast.
2022; JINX sub-unit debut, Hajoon's hiatuses[]
Jinsang returned to Korea in January. In march the group confirmed upcoming comeback, which on April 7, 2022 was confirmed to be their 1st mini-album - "Insania". During album's works - Hajoon went on hiatus, because of his mental health issues. They finally released the mini-album on June 6, with a music video, after which Hajoon returned to his hiatus. On June 17, the company confirmed that group will get it's first sub-unit - JINX, consisting of Jinsang and Xao. The sub-unit finally debuted on June 29. In december, group announced that Hajoon returned from his break.
2023; Comeback with "Boys", Xao's solo activities, pets, World Tour Preparations, Anniversary[]
On January 4, 2023 Luna Entertainment confirmed that TRØX are working on a comeback with digital single "Boys". The single was finally released on January 27. On March 8th, Xao announced his application to represent Laos in the Asiavision Song Contest 2023. On May 6th the group announced adoption of their first pets, two axolotls named Oni and Soa. On July 18th, the group announced Xao will make his solo debut with digital single "Gladiator", which happened a week after, the song was announced as Laos's official entry for ASC, becoming one of favourities to win entire competition. On July 30th TRØX confirmed their first world tour. On their third debut anniversary they released a pre-release single "Birthday". On November 1st the name of the world tour was announced - Crusade of Sinners. The list of cities started being announced since November 19th and included forty cities all around the globe.
2024; "GLITTERBLUD", Crusade of Sinners[]
On March 5th the group confirmed release of their second album - "GLITTERBLUD", which came out week later. On April 1st the Crusade of Sinners tour began, one week later one of the concerts in Baku, Azerbaijan got cancelled. Despite of no official confirmation, it is speculated the reason of such decision was political situation in the country.
2025; Comeback with "Whiplash", Xao and Jinsang wedding, Ray reparture[]
On January 8th, 2025 TRØX confirmed their first post-tour comeback with digital single "Whiplash", the announcement was followed by promotional photoshoot. The single was released on January 15th. In February the whole group went to Thailand to attend wedding of their two members - Jinsang and Xao. On January 5th Ray announced his departure from the group due to health reasons. At the same day new member Seth was announced. On May 9th they confirmed a comeback with a pre-release single, teasing their third album.
