SolSys (Korean: 솔시스, Japanese: ソルシス) is an unlimited-member multinational girl group under SYSHOME. They made their debut as twelve on March 18, 2024, with the mini album ORION.

The group currently contains 32 members and has the concept of having "no limits" on members, allowing many trainees to join the group.

Concept and name

Concept

They aim to be a decentralized K-pop idol group, as described by the company. The members will rotate between the group, sub-unit, and solo activities, as chosen by fans as they will be able to participate and communicate with the group such as deciding the sub-units and the content. The group's concept is the members have the special ability "SYS" and that they will join forces and demonstrate their abilities through the "Solar System" and will be recreated every season with new concepts. The voting system, referred to as the "Supernova", will decide the sub-unit, solo, and various other contents that will be voted on by the fans. The focus of the unlimited members allows the units to have "infinite possibilities".

Units

The sub-units allow members to show a never-before-seen side of themselves in a concept of a unit. These units may contain a variety of concepts, ranging from elegance to hip-hop to cute. Byeon also revealed that the current units will be "temporary" in the sense that the units may never release music ever again unless decided so by a supernova. In another interview, Byeon stated that in the future, SolSys may have "fixed" sub-units that will keep releasing music, but the members would be decided by the company.

Name

The name SolSys is a portmanteau of the words Solar and System, and is pronounced like Solstice without the "T".

Sometime in early 2023, the company, SYSHOME, was founded by well-known creative director Byeon Kyeungmi, who had directed groups such as AISA and BEAUDENT. Rumors then circulated that she would be forming a decentralized 24 member group. The rumor was then confirmed by Kyeungmi, who had stated that she had been planning an unlimited member group ever since she had become a creative director. The first group and member teasers, according to Kyeungmi, would be released in April.

On April 13, the first teaser of the group was revealed, revealing the name SolSys. On the same day, a teaser drop of the first member was released. The next day, Jang Myungseo was revealed as the first member of the group, followed by Min Jaeji on April 30, Han Yooneul and Kang Eunhee on May 24, Kim Yehee and Seo Hanhee on June 2, and Kim Semin on June 6. The same day, a Supernova was announced for the formation of the group's first sub-units: dalkomdalkom and REC0VER. The gravity ran from June 9 to June 12, and will supposedly reveal the group's 8th member on the final day. On June 15, Kim Saewon was revealed as the 8th member of the group, followed by Gi Yunmi on October 14, Guanyu on October 15, Chwe Heiyoung on October 21, and Rika on November 9.

2024: Debut with ORION, continued member reveals, sub-units

Sometime in December, it was announced that SolSys would make their awaited debut in February 2024 with the mini album ORION. On January 12, Yeom Sojin was revealed as a new member, followed by Eri and Yu Min on March 10, Demi in March, Choi Yara on April 12, and Um Seoeun on April 13.. On March 8, it was announced that ORION would release on March 21. On March 25, the group announced their upcoming subunits debuts, with REC0VER debuting in the spring, Puriti.G in the summer, and VARIOUSLESS in the fall.

On May 27, it was reported that SolSys had formed its first ever fixed unit NOV(US) that is set to debut on June 2 with their first digital mini album NOV(US) <NOVUS> and consists of 4 upcoming members of SolSys. The next day, Nam Heeryeong was announced as the first official member.

On August 10, 3 units: Eclantant(e), BACK2BACK, and NEMESiS were announced as the last 3 sub-units of 2024.

2025-present: HYDRA, upcoming vocal unit

Sometime in 2025, it was reported that SolSys was preparing for their first comeback since ORION. On April 12, 2025, the group announced that they will be releasing their third studio album HYDRA on May 13. Simultaneously, the title track was revealed to be "Girls Never Die".

On May 24, 2025, SolSys announced that voting will be held to decide a combination for the group's first vocal unit. Each combination will consist of 7 members, with Kim Semin, Gi Yunmi, and Oh Jimin confirmed as members of the unit. Later, on June 1, 2025, 5SION, consisting of SYS28-32, was announced to be debuting on June 10 with their first mini album 5SION <Rush>. The next day, Lee Nayoung was revealed as the first member of 5SION, followed by Je Yorin on June 3, Choi Taeyul on June 4, Han Iljin on June 5, and finally Katarina on June 6.
