Simis is a South Korean 7-member boy group formed through the survival show Similar Me, managed by MY:Dream Entertainment. Originally as 8, they debuted on August 27, 2015 with the single True.
Etymology[]
Group[]
The members choose the group name themselves, as a reference for Similar Me's title, since they wanted the name to be a palindrome. They also choose it specifically because it was cute.
Fandom[]
When their logo was revealed, Haerom said the cat mascot should have a name, and the fandom named it Dugeun because of the "두근 두근" onomatopoeia of the heartbeat sound. Then, the group thought it would be cute to name their fandom after the group's mascot.
On contrast to the fandom name, Dugeuns begun calling their haters Flats as a reference to the flatline represented when the heart stops beating.
