Sim Jookyung (심주경) is a South Korean singer signed to Blair Music. He is a member of the project boy group HALCYON.
He is best known for being a former pre-debut member of Aprica Entertainment's pre-debut group Apricot Boys, and also being formally apart of the trainee academy BYETOILE Academy.
History[]
Early Life[]
Sim Jookyung was born on April 5, 2007 in Gwank-gu, Seoul, South Korea, to a couple whose names are undisclosed. He is the youngest child in his family with an older sister (Sim Jooeun, born in 2000). His mother is a university teacher for singing, while his father is an office worker for an unnamed entertainment company.
Due to his mothers background, him and his sister were given singing classes as they grew up, learning how to sing and emote properly with their singing. Whilst his sister gave up on singing, becoming bored of it, Jookyung on the other hand fell in love with singing and started dreaming of becoming an idol or a vocal teacher.
As he grew older, he started attending more vocal intense lessons, and upon the recommendation of his father, began also attending dance classes and dance training at Def Dance School.
His parents who saw his talent as he grew up, began in earnest scouting for entertainment companies, having him attend weekend walk-in auditions, to even participating in contests.
In the winter of 2019, he was able to catch the eye of Aprica Entertainment, during a winter singing concert where he won first place. The scout stopped them and offered Jookyung a trainee contract. He accepted the contract and started training for the company in the beginning of 2020.
Joining Aprica Entertainment, Being apart of Apricot Boys[]
Jookyung joined Aprica Entertainment on January 20, 2020 at 12 years old. During his time as a trainee, he was always designated within the training groups as main vocal due to his advanced skills in singing. He also displayed strong skills in dance due to his prior training, making him become an eye for debut.
After almost 3 years of training, Jookyung was finally added to the pre-debut line up of Apricot Boys in January of 2023. He remained in the pre-debut line up until November of 2023, in which it was announced that he had eft the pre-debut team due to unknown reasons.
Joining Blair Music[]
On November 12, 2023, it was announced that Jookyung joined Blair Entertainment as a part of its pre-debut team Blair Boys at 16 years old. While it is never stated as to why he joined Blair Boys, speculation and rumors have stated that after Aprica Entertainment was fully acquired, that Blair Entertainment asked for them to transfer Jookyung's trainee contract to Blair Entertainment.
Joining BYETOILE Academy[]
On February 4, 2024, it was announced that he has joined BYETOILE Academy as apart of its 4th audition winners. Whilst training with the academy, he will remain still part of Blair Boys, but will also receive extra training and promotional activities given by the academy.
On February 20, 2025, it was announced that Jookyung had graduated from BYETOILE Academy.
Career[]
2025: MAGNET RISE, debut in HALCYON and debut with "If I DARE to DREAM"[]
On February 24, it was revealed that Jookyung would be appearing as a contestant on the survival show MAGNET RISE representing Blair Music.
In Episode 1, he performed DEC's 'Your Rockstar' along with Nikau, it was revealed that the both passed.
In Episode 2, he was placed in Charge Team Minus where they would be performing 'SLAM THE DOOR' by MERAVI.
In Episode 3, his team got 1st Place out of the four performing teams making them their team the winning team out of the 4 songs, and during the elimination section, Jookyung ranked at 3rd Place in Charge Team Minus.
In episode Episode 4, his team performed 'TAKE MY HAND' by EPHEMERA, his team sadly lost the in-team battle.
In Episode 6, he was ranked at 4th place in Charge Team Minus.
In Episode 8, he was ranked 2nd place in Charge Team Minus.
On May 16, which was the finale of MAGNT RISE, it was announced that Jookyung ranked 3rd in Team Minus, thus confirming him as a member of the project boy group HALCYON.
On August 8, Jookyung and the rest of HALCYON debuted with the mini album "If I DARE to DREAM".

Education[]
When Jookyung joined Aprica Entertainment, he was in his 6th year of elementary school. He graduated from elementary school in February of 2020.
He enrolled into middle school in 2020, he attended Cheongdam Middle School, he graduated from middle school in 2023.
He later on enrolled into School of Performing Arts Seoul in 2023, as a part of its Department of Practical Music.
In his elementary and middle schools, he was part of his schools student council, and was part of the swim team.
As of February 2025, he is in his third and last year of high school.
Personality[]
Due to being the youngest in his family, he was often spoiled by his family due to him being so small as a child. Due to this, his family has stated that he has a very sweet personality, while also being annoying according to his sister.
When you get to know Jookyung and talk to him more, he really is just a puppy in a tall kids body, often always laughing and tagging along with the older trainees hanging out with them, and playing video games. Due to this, the older trainees tend to baby him as well, affectionally cuddling him and hugging him when he asks for them.
When asked about by his fellow trainees, a lot of them have stated that Jookyung is very sweet to everyone, being so tall, he is often mistaken as one of the older trainees so it always comes as a surprise for everyone when its found that he is one of the younger trainees.
Due to his background in singing, he is often seen amongst the trainees helping the newer trainees when it comes to singing, teaching them methods on how to read music notes while also showing them basic steps in learning how to help their singing as well. During his time as an Aprica Entertainment trainee, he was quickly known as "Darling Jookyunggie" due to his kindness in teaching the other trainees how to sing.
Friendships[]
- Baek Kyungjoon: Kyungjoon was one of the first trainees that Jookyung first met when he joined Blair Entertainment. They quickly became close friends with each other after hanging out the first few days that Jookyung was a trainee and have since been seen having Blair Boys lives with him and Harua.
- Hinode Harua: Harua and Jookyung joined around the same time as each other, along with that, both are only 7 days apart from each other in age. Harua, along with Jookyung and Kyungjoon are often seen with each other, being dubbed the triplets, due to them all being born in 2007 and in the early half of the year.
- Jeon Yoonji: He is close to Yoonji since their trainee days back in Aprica Entertainment, when he was revealed to have been cut from the Apricot Boys line up, Yoonji was heartbroken for her friend and even more so when it was announced that he was leaving the company to join Blair Music.

- He was really short as a child, so it came as a surprise that when he started growing, that he ended up towering over not only his mother and sister, but also his father.
- His family doctor said that Jookyung is expected to grow to 6"4 by the time he finishes puberty.

- When he joined Blair Boys, he was nervous because he's never met any of them before, but he quickly became friends with fellow trainees Baek Jookyung and Hinode Harua.
- He is really bad at English much to the amusement of the other trainees.
- His favourite food is deep fried mandu and tofu with rice, while his least favourite is corn cheese.
- His most listened too song on his playlist is Baggy Jeans by NCT.
- He has family that live in Brazil, and he often goes to visit them during the winter.
- His hobbies: working out, watching lyric videos, and playing video games.
