SWEETEST (스윗터스트) is a four member girl group under YR Entertainment. The group debuted on January 3, 2023 with their first mini-album "Love So Sweet".
History[]
Pre-debut[]
On February 14, 2014, Dahee debuted in TYC Entertainment's new girl group Lovely Kiss as the Main Dancer and Maknae. Unfortunately, after 1 year Lovely Kiss disbanded due to internal issues on December 8, 2015.
In 2017, Pristine joined BNK48 as a first generation member. She eventually became the captain of the group.
In 2019, Athena was announced to be the representative of Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, held in Nicosia, Cyprus. On March 2, the Greek broadcaster ERT officially released Athena's song titled "Lovesick". Athena would go on to get 1st place in the first semi-final, qualifying to the grand final. On May 18th, Athena came in 2nd place achieving their highest score in the last decade.
On September 8, 2021, Yoonjung was featured in the trailer for MBC's survival program My Teenage Girl, confirming her participation. The first episode then aired on November 28, 2021. Unfortunately, she was eliminated in the final episode, where she ranked 8th place. The episode aired on February 27, 2022.
On February 5, 2022, Pristine announced her graduation from BNK48. On April 20th, a graduation concert was held for Pristine, she officially left the group after.
On December 7, 2022, Dahee was introduced as the group's first member, followed by former BNK48 member Pristine on December 9, Greek singer Athena on December 11, and child actress and My Teenage Girl contestant Yoonjung on December 13. On December 15 and 16, YR Entertainment released the first and second music video teaser for their pre-debut single Ping Pong.
On December 18, 2022, YR Entertainment uploaded the music video to SWEETEST's pre-debut single "Ping Pong."
2023: Debut, Athena's departure, Arev's addition, Sweet Arrow, SWEET DREAM, BERRI BINGSU, Sweet Us[]
On December 20, 2022, YR Entertainment teased SWEETEST's debut Mini-Album Love So Sweet. Day by day they released more teasers and promotional videos leading up to the eventual release of the mini album. On January 3, 2023, SWEETEST made their official debut releasing a music video for the title track Love So Sweet.
On March 2, SWEETEST uploaded a video to their official YouTube channel, revealing their official fan club name Sweetie.
On August 16, it was announced by YR Entertainment that Athena would be departing from SWEETEST as a result of her scandal. The next day, it was announced that YR Newcomers' member Arev would be joining SWEETEST to fill Athena's spot.
On August 30, YR Entertainment announced that SWEETEST would be making their first comeback with a mini album featuring new member Arev. On September 14, the group released their concept photo for their newest mini album titled 'Sweet Arrow', the next day the individual concept photos were released. On October 14, SWEETEST officially released their second mini album with the title track "Cupid."
On November 4, Dahee was announced to be taking part in the survival show MY ROOKIE IDOL.
On December 21, YR Entertainment and LSG Entertainment announced the formation of a brand new 4-member collab girl group consisting of members from SWEETEST and DREAMSCAPE called SWEET DREAM.
2024: Dahee hiatus, BERRI BINGSU, Sweet Us[]
On January 4, Dahee ranked 1st in the final episode of MY ROOKIE IDOL, meaning she would be debuting in brand new girl group DREAMHOUR. On the same day, Pristine was appointed to be leader until Dahee returns.
On January 7, it was announced that SWEETEST would be forming a sub-unit called BERRI BINGSU including members Pristine, Yoonjung, and Arev. The unit debuted on January 13 with the mini album ABING ABING.
On May 5, with Dahee wrapping up the debut promotions of DREAMHOUR, YR Entertainment announced that she would be officially returning to SWEETEST as well as being a member of DREAMHOUR.
On June 12, YR Entertainment announced that SWEETEST would finally be returning from their 243-day hiatus with their first studio album, Sweet Us. They officially released their first studio album, Sweet Us, on June 22.
