STAR RAIL (Korean: 스타레일) is a South Korean reality competition series created by WAVE. It will air on CBC sometime in Summer 2025. The show plans to gather 77 contestants to fight for a spot in the final group.
Concept[]
STAR RAIL will use a cyber-inspired theme. It is set in Veloris, a city of the future, where the contestants start out on the lowest level, with their goal being to reach the Express at Level 30, which will lead them on an adventure through the universe. The contestants are named voyagers, divided by talent paths (Vocals, Dance, Rap or Ace), who are watched by the stars (Audience & Fans), conductors (MC) and navigators (Trainers). Unfortunately, there are some hurdles rising the levels. Not only are there Boosts and Blocks, which are given to the voyagers either by the stars or navigators, but there are also star fates. At the beginning of the show, the contestants are asked to draw those fates at random, giving them a task to complete to gain rewards. While you are not allowed to tell which one you got, the tasks include the symbolic betrayal of each other, sacrifice and more. Another thing the contestants are given at the beginning are tokens. They can be used for strategic moves like switching to another talent path or accessing special perks for the performances. After they are first given out, you can only earn them through exceptional performances during the Express Missions. Those are large-scale performances that test creativity and teamwork, offering major rewards.

The survival show was first announced on March 1, 2025,th a video message by the CEO of WAVE, who was revealed to be the producer of the show. More information on the concept of the show was promptly announced the next day in a press release.
