Ryeo is a singer and actress under Neptune Entertainment. She is a member of the girl group Neon Axys. The group debuted in 2004 with the single "Memory". She debuted as a soloist in 2019 with the EP "Kaleido".
Early Life[]
Born in Seoul in 1986, Ryeo grew up in a serene but rigid family environment where art was not encouraged as a career but tolerated as a pastime. Her passion for singing and theatre emerged from an early age, fuelled by school performances and improvised home performances. However, it was only thanks to the support of a high school teacher that Ryeo was able to participate in the first auditions, and was able to join FairyDream Company as an intern in the early 2000s.
Career[]
2004-2009: Venus[]
In 2004, at the age of 18, Ryeo officially debuts with the girl group VENUS. Unlike other more flamboyant members, Ryeo was distinguished by his clear vocality and his composed and gentle attitude. Often called "the silent column" of the group, it was loved by fans for its sensitivity and natural elegance.
The band had a good success, but after five years and the release of the mini album Goodbye in 2009, VENUS broke up. Unlike many colleagues who leave FairyDream, Ryeo decides to stay: an act of loyalty that temporarily slows down her solo career.
2010-2019: Acting and solo career[]
In 2011, Ryeo appears in the web series "Artists Return", where she openly reflects on the difficulty of the post-idol life and the need to reinvent herself. Her heartfelt words resonate with many viewers, and this led to her being invited as a mentor in the survival show "Music Kingdom" between 2012 and 2013. In parallel, she makes her acting debut in the drama "To Be Your Light", surprising critics for its interpretative naturalness and the emotional depth of its characters. At the end of 2013, she left FairyDream and chose the path of independence, driven by a desire for creative freedom.
As an independent, Ryeo began a more selective career, focused on dramatic roles and quality content. The sci-fi drama "RE:Verse", in which she plays a disillusioned programmer in a dystopian virtual world, becomes a cult among fans of the genre. Follow the delicate "Her Time", a feminist drama acclaimed for its writing, and her participation in the survival show "The Voice of Legend", after her solo debut with "Kaleido", in which she again shows her mature and refined vocal skills.
2025-present: Neon Axys[]
In 2024, when Sooky proposes the reunion of VENUS under Neptune Entertainment, Ryeo accepts with enthusiasm. The group, renamed Neon Axys, returns with a new identity: no longer just idol, but mature women, aware artists, ready to tell a new version of themselves. Ryeo is a fundamental presence in the relaunch of the group: more charismatic, more confident and deeper.
Public Image[]
Ryeo has had a long and varied career, marked by courageous choices, silent but productive phases, and continuous personal evolution. She has gone from being "the quiet of VENUS" to the sober voice of female artistic resilience, showing that time can only sharpen talent. Her story is that of those who, although far from the constant spotlight, never ceased to shine.
