Randomize is the Featured Group of June 2023
|
Randomize (Korean: 란도마이즈; RR: Randomizeu) was a South Korean co-ed group signed under 24D Arts and consisting of five members: Donggun ("Cool Mouse"), Miyoung ("Ballsy Mouse"), Aaron ("Modest Mouse"), Kozue ("Crazy Mouse"), and Heeun ("Baby Mouse"). Heavily inspired by the individuality and over-the-top image of the Spice Girls, it was initially formed as a one-time project group on national variety show Sisters Class before taking a life of its own as a long-term project signed under 24D Arts.
The group was largely defined by their "kitsch" experimental K-pop sound standout concept that is heavily indebted in mid-to-late 2000s and early 2010s pop culture, alongside niche aesthetics such as Frutiger Eco, Frutiger Metro, McBling, Weirdcore, and Liminal Spaces. They made their debut on May 1, 2023 with the single album Randopolis, and disbanded in May 2024 following the end of their project contract.
Our Name![]
The group's name, "Randomize", refers to the group's ability to "switch things up" with every musical era, showing their different sides while keeping the colorful and fabulous essence that makes them stand out as a music act. It can also be a play on the phrase "random eyes", which represents their objective to catch the attention of potential audiences, regarding their age, gender, and other brackets with their presence that is both powerful and bright [1].
Fandom ★[]
On May 15, 2023, Randomize’s official fandom name was revealed to be MIZECHIEF, a play on the word “mischief” as well as alternatively meaning “mice chief”, affectionately labelling their fans as the most important mice in the world.
History[]
Pre-debut[]
Prior to the formation of Randomize, nearly all members were already active in the K-pop idol industry as part of several music acts. Jeon Mi-young debuted as a member of girl group SIXA6ON in 2019 with the mini album SIX TRIX [1]. In 2022, Miyoung, alongside Kozue and Heeun, participated in Lapiz Media and DIAMOND Entertainment's survival program Star Maker 101, in which the latter two represented Heaven's Entertainment and Bedlam Entertainment, respectively [2]. In the finale, the three became among the nine successful debut members of project group LUNIVER, ranking 4th, 1st, and 5th, respectively. LUNIVER made their debut in May 2022 with their debut mini album Secret Passage, which was a massive chart success. The girl group would promote until the conclusion of their contracts in February 2023, after which they officially disbanded. Mi-young's girl group SIXA6ON would also announce their split around the same time, leading to curiosity from netizens on where the talented singer will be heading next. Aaron is a former member of boy group LAVA.B and competed in survival programs 7 Tiers and Turbo Max in 2022, the latter of which he placed in the final lineup of one-time project boy group ORCHID.

RNDMZ - "Come To Me"
Randomize was formed in MBS variety program Sisters Class as a one-time novelty act created for a segment centered around their attempts to run an idol group, performing a single titled "Way 2 Go", which interpolates Finekiz's 2010 debut single "Our Way to Go". Although a studio version was never released on streaming platforms, their chemistry as a team through the behind-the-scenes clip and stable live performance on the show was well received by netizens and K-pop fans, with the official performance video receiving over 5,000,000 views in less than one month. The five were officially seen later on multiple occasions throughout the following months, leading to many believing that they were cooking up something. In January 2023, the female members of the group released a Realmu-exclusive special unit single titled "Come to Me", which is a remake of the 2001 hit song of the same name by 1st generation girl group M.I.L.K.
2023[]
On May 1, 2023, Randomize officially made their debut with the single album Randopolis, spawning the lead single "Would_U_Run", which entered the top 15 of all real-time streaming charts and peaked at #8 on the Circle Digital Chart [3]. Randopolis sold over 55,000 copies, debuting at #2 on the Circle Album Chart.
The group won their first music show trophy on the May 7th episode of Hallyumak with 8,484 points, beating more powerful competitors, followed by their second at The Shining Star on the same day, and their third at the May 12th episode of Smile Groove Music Show. On their third week of promotions, the group began performing their promotional B-side "Sour Place", which was received well by the general public.
In September 2023, it was revealed that Randomize is making their first comeback in October.
On October 16, 2023, Randomize returned with the single album Randobubble, consisting of title track "Bubble" which was produced by hitmaker B.E.P, and promotional B-side "QT" [4]. Package Two would exceed 78,500 album copies sold in the first week, debuting atop the Circle Album Chart. "Bubble" would also go on to become their first top 5 hit on the South Korean charts, subsequently attaining a Triple Crown on MBS Rankdown after ranking 1st place for three non-consecutive weeks. Randomize was nominated for Best New Artist at the 2023 MBS Artist Awards, where they performed their debut song "Would_U_Run".
2024[]
On January 3, 2024, Randomize released their Japanese debut single "ABOAB" [5]. Half of the profit earned from the single's sales were to be donated to the recovery efforts in the aftermath of the 2024 Noto earthquake. In early March, Randomize teased at a "possible release" in June, which later turned out to be their first studio album alongside comeback concert tour.
In April 2024, the group confirmed the release of the Package trilogy's final installment, studio album Randophone, which was released in June 19. The lead single, "Better Off Alone?" was described as an electropop and alternative pop song that is more experimental than their previous work; the song debuted at #40 on the Circle Digital Chart.
For the remainder of the year, Randomize embarked on their first ever world tour, with majority of the dates being sold out. The group was able to tour various cities in Asia, Europe, North America, and South America, and ranked 20th within the top 20 highest-grossing K-pop concerts of 2024.
2025[]
On February 17, 2025, Randomize released their first Korean-language extended play (EP) Frutiger City, which consisted of 6 tracks including the lead single "808". The EP sold over 48,000 copies and became their lowest charting single after peaking at #60 on the Circle Digital Chart, but nonetheless became their best reviewed era from music critics due to its creative direction and experimentation in sound. B-side "Generation" achieved minor virality on the Korean side of TikTok due to its catchy chorus, and was promoted in several live music shows as a result; the song climbed to peak at #40 in South Korea.
On their 2nd debut anniversary, May 1, 2025, Randomize surprise released the Korean-language version of their second Japanese single, "I Will Remember", with a music video consisting of archive footage of the members hanging out together and performing at the concerts. Days later, Bedlam Entertainment announced that the members of Randomize had decided to terminate their contracts with the company, effectively disbanding the group. All five posted individual thank you messages on their social media accounts, stating that the project had run its course and they mutually wanted to move on to focusing on their solo careers.
