Playground (운동장) is a seven-member girl group under HYPE. They debuted on March 1, 2017 with the single "You Hurt Me".

The group consists of members Dami, JiU, MeO, Yoohyoon, Dahyeon, Choyeon and LoRi.

Each member of the group has a representative nightmare.

The group has come to be recognized as "The Dark Queens of K-Pop" by the public and fans.

History[]

2017: Debut with "You Hurt Me", first comeback, Nightmare : Don't Look Behind, first world tour[]

On March 1, 2017, Playground officially debuted with their first single album "You Hurt Me" and its title track "악몽".

On May 23, a mysterious teaser photo posted on the group's social media accounts hinted the groups first comeback in June. Individual teasers of all seven members posted on May 27 confirmed plans for their first comeback. Playground made their first comeback on June 6 with their second single album "Late Night" and its title track of the same name.

On July 10, a teaser scheduler posted on the group's social media accounts announced the release of their first mini album, Nightmare : Don't Look Behind. The mini album, along with its title track "Behind You", was released on July 29.

On August 1, HYPE announced that following the conclusion of promotions for Nightmare : Don't Look Behind, Playground would embark on their first world tour, visiting cities in Japan, North and South America, Oceania and Europe. The world tour, titled Playground World Tour I [Behind You], lasted from September 23, 2017 to March 24, 2018.

2018: Nightmare : Breath Your Last, Nightmare : Dreams of Darkness[]

On March 10, a teaser scheduler posted on the group's social media accounts announced the release of their second mini album, Nightmare : Breath Your Last. The mini album, along with its title track "Your Last", was released on March 26.

On September 20, Playground released their third mini album, Nightmare : Dreams of Darkness, with its title track "DoD".

2019: Nightmare : The Light, Winter Disaster, Playground Concert 'Nightmare on the Playground', Japanese debut[]

On August 1, a mysterious teaser image posted on the group's Instagram page hinting at an upcoming comeback. A release scheduler posted on August 4 announced that the group's first studio album, Nightmare : The Light, was set to be released on August 20.

On August 20, Playground released their first studio album Nightmare : The Light with its title track "Daydreams".

The group made their Japanese debut on November 21 with their first single "You Hurt Me -Japanese ver.-".

On December 26, Playground released their first special album Winter Disaster with its title track "Jingle Kill".

2020: Dystopia : The Dread, "거미의 저주"[]

On March 3, a mysterious teaser image posted on the group's Instagram page hinting at a comeback. A release scheduler posted on March 10 announced that the group's fourth mini album, Dystopia : The Dread, was set to be released on March 18.

On June 4, Playground released their third single album "거미의 저주".

2021: Dystopia : Find Me, Death Day[]

On January 12, a mysterious teaser image posted on the group's Instagram page hinting at a new release. A release scheduler posted on January 16 announced that the group's fifth mini album, Dystopia : Find Me, was set to be released on January 25.

On October 31, Playground released their second special album, Death Day.

2022: Dystopia : Inevitable End[]

On August 23, a mysterious teaser photo posted on the group's social media accounts hinted the groups comeback in September. Individual teasers of all seven members posted on August 29 confirmed plans for their first comeback. Playground made their comeback on September 14 with their second studio album Dystopia : Inevitable End and its title track "DIE-topia".

2023: Darkness in the World · Escape, English debut[]

On April 10, a mysterious teaser image posted on the group's Instagram page hinting at a new release. A release scheduler posted on April 20 announced that the group's sixth mini album, Darkness in the World · Escape, was set to be released on May 10.

On June 10, HYPE alongside its announcement of their strategic partnership with the UK's leading music label EMI, announced that Playground would be the companies first group to sign under EMI for western promotions and English releases.

On July 6, EMI announced that Playground would be making their western debut with their first English singles. It was revealed that "You Hurt Me", "Late Night" and "Spider's Curse" would all be getting English versions and they would be released throughout the year with "You Hurt Me -English Ver-" releasing on July 20, "Late Night -English Ver-" releasing on September 4 and "Spider's Curse -English Ver-" releasing on October 31.

2024: Revenant[]

On February 2, 2024, It was reported that Playground would be making a in the month and that the group is in the process of filming the music video. HYPE confirmed the news and on February 4 Playground shared the coming soon poster for their seventh mini album Revenant set to release on February 25.
