PENDRAGON (Korean: 펜드라곤) is a ten-member K-pop boy group under Olympic Records. Formed through the survival show Knights of the Round Table, they made their debut as nine on October 9, 2024, with the mini album Knights of the Round Table.
Career[]
2021-2024: Group formation, Knights of the Round Table and pre-debut[]
Following the debut of co-ed group After School Club, Olympic Records CEO Shin Maegeun and her husband, lead creative director Lee Cheolyong, began the process of planning for their next boy group. Their main goal was to continue utilising the success of the DEMIGXDS trainee programme, hoping to debut trainees who had an established fanbase. As a result, trainee drives were held across Asia with an emphasis on finding more global talent instead of the company's previous main focal points of Tokyo, Taiwan and Beijing.
Alongside the DEMIGXDS members, many former SNSH members were allocated to the pre-emptive boy group that had simply been named as 2B24, the first instance of a 2024 debut. By late 2021, a group consisting of DEMIGXDS and SNSH members were slated to begin to train for the hypothesised 2024 debut. As of 2024, little is known of this trainee group, other than it involved CASTOR&POLLUX members Kim Pangyu and Park Naon and DEMIGXDS members Ferris, Jayden and Hyuk.
Following the success of QUEENDOM of CORDELIA in 2023, the creative brains of Olympic Records immediately halted the debut of "2B24" in lieu of planning a male sequel to their popular survival show. In doing so, the five-membered group was scrapped in favour of debuting nine trainees, much to mirror CORDELIA. Internal sign-ups and evaluations for the survival show, later revealed as Knights of the Round Table, began by late 2023.
Knights of the Round Table was officially announced during the 2024 Olympic Records Conference wherein Shin Maegeun detailed plans for a boy group survival show, one that was not too dissimilar from QUEENDOM of CORDELIA the year prior. On December 28, 2023, a teaser was posted for the show and confirmed a first quarter airtime. Knights of the Round Table began to air on January 31, 2024 and premiered its finale on April 3, 2024. Mika, Callum, Yves, Alexander, Teddy, Jayden, Saeryeon. Jenyeon and Rockyeon were the Top 9 in the finale and thus became the debuting members of PENDRAGON.
Teddy, Jayden and Jenyeon were previous members of DEMIGXDS whilst Yves had competed on The Boys in the Sky! - the show which had formed SNSH.
On May 3, 2024, the group released their pre-debut single "NECTAR"; a re-recorded rendition of the finale song of Knights of the Round Table.
