Etymology[]

"ODYSSEIA" came from the greek word for "Odyssey", which is "Οδύσσεια (Odýsseia)". The name ties to the group's concept and lore, and is meant to represent their journey through the harsh K-pop industry and experimenting with different concepts, doing their best to overcome the struggles they face.

Concept[]

In an interview with SO-SHOOK NEWS, DEC, the main producer and creative director of ODYSSEIA stated that he expects to captivate fans from all around the world by experimenting with different concepts every comeback to show various sides of the members.

Lore[]

※ This is a summarized version of the lore. For more info and details, check here.

The lore follows the odyssey of 7 girls who lost hope in chasing their dreams, finding one another after a sudden encounter that led them to what they thought was their demise. Uniting as one, they travel to unique dimensions through vortexes, facing many situations of hope and happiness or struggles and hardships.

These dimensions vary from a peaceful utopia, a traumatic horror world, a magical fantasy realm, a dystopian society full of danger, and many many more. They will work together to conquer anything in their way and cherish memories they've made through their journey of growth, which seems to be endless...?

Yeseon's reveal photo.

Yeseon, born on December 1st, 2003 as Park Yeseon, is the oldest of the group and one of the main vocalists. She was the third member to be introduced.

Yeseon is the group's fashionista, always doing her best to dress well for any occasion. She is one of the social butterflies within the group, striving for fun and friends. She charms fans with her ethereal vocals, active fanservice, and pretty visuals, along with her outgoing and optimistic personality followed by moments of silliness.

Prior to her debut, she was active as an actress and model since 2016. She has mainly appeared in many brand advertisements, magazines, and commercials, but also has a history of playing small and supporting roles in dramas, and appearing in a couple kids shows. She has always had a passion for singing, but never got to pursue the idea of entering the music world until she built up the courage to do an improptu audition by her own will. Being the member who has had the longest experience in the entertainment industry, she is a reliable unnie to her members, being the one to listen to their worries and give them emotional support.

Moyeon, born on January 16th, 2004 as Shin Moyeon, is the leader and main dancer of the group. She was the seventh and last member to be introduced.

Livvy's reveal photo.

Livvy, born on July 10th, 2004 as Yang Xiaoyun, is one of the vocalists and dancers in the group. She is the sole Chinese member, and was the fifth member to be introduced.

Livvy is undoubtedly the face of the group, charming audiences with her unreal goddess-like visuals and unique vocal color. She's not very social or active when it comes to being in a place full of people she doesn't know or isn't very close with, specifically in professional settings like music shows and award shows, which can make her look like a mysterious person. However, her bright side comes to light when she is with her members and close friends, often showing her smile and occasionally being unpredictably goofy. She is caring and empathetic, looking out for her members, making her a loyal friend who will support and protect you.

Pre-debut[]

  • Prior to debuting as a member of ODYSSEIA, some of the members worked in other areas of the entertainment industry, were trainees under other companies, or have participated in survival shows.
    • Yeseon mainly worked as an actress and model, appearing in numerous dramas, films, commercials, and photoshoots.
    • Moyeon had been auditioning for companies since 2019 but all led to no success, nearly giving up until she was scouted. She also has been a backdancer for many artists and events.
    • Livvy debuted as a soloist in China back in 2021 before moving to Korea. In 2023, she also participated in BEAUTY and the VOICES but was eliminated early in the show despite being fairly popular and having a fanbase.
    • Yewon was a trainee at YG Entertainment, and went on to participate in Talent School after leaving. She was eliminated early in the show.
    • Sorane had an public Instagram account (@s1000rangel) where she posted covers with her guitar, having over approximately 500 followers at the time. The account is now for her own personal use with overwhelmingly more followers than it had. The covers are also preserved.
    • Haebin was a child model and actress for brands and commercials. She also participated in Vocal Queen in 2019, where she placed 3rd. She later went on to become a trainee at SM Entertainment for 4 years.
    • Tessie took part as a member of "MOONY" in SOL&YOUNG Vocal Studio's first project Starlit Night, released April 5th, 2024.

"Behind The Scenes" Trivia[]

  • NMIXX and TXT were probably the biggest inspirations when creating this group.
  • Their original name was gonna be "VOYAGE (보야지)", but due to the simple nature of the name and similarities with a different group name, i decided to scrap it.
    • Other group name candidates were "OD7SSEIA", "VO7AGE", "CLAUDIA", and "CLOUDIA".
    • Now i feel like i could've made the group name more unique but whatever, it sounds beautiful anyway
  • I was considering the group to have 8 or 9 members, but eventually settled with the original 7.
  • These OCs were considered for the line-up:
    • Hayashi Ibuki: She initially was never apart of the lineup. Originally i wanted to use a tripleS Seoah faceclaim so i created an OC with her as the faceclaim with plans to send her to a survival show in the future. I did consider her once and even added her as a Japanese-Korean named "Sorane", but decided to put her back into a trainee state with her original name. This was because even though she is a 2008 liner, her faceclaim is a 2010 liner, and since the group's concept is rotational, i feel like that fact would've went in the way of trying various concepts. (we love you ibuki and seoah)
    • Kwon Inha: Like Ibuki, she initially was never apart of the lineup as well. I just decided to add her as a pre-debut member cause why not? Also even if i considered adding her in, since her faceclaim (RESCENE Woni) only debuted this year and it wasn't like she had a lot of content + there were already locked members with faceclaims that don't have as much content either, and she would've been removed either way so i could lessen the members with faceclaims that don't have many content.
    • Sung Yeonha: I was planning to add her into the group if she didn't make it into WORLD CLASS's final line-up. By the time the show had a revamp, the line-up was already finalized and i didn't feel like it was worth adding her or replacing a member for her. Her potential positions in the group could have been the leader and main dancer.
    • Pan Luqi: Same as Yeonha, except i wasn't leaning too much on her being in the group because for some reason i just could not see her in there. I don't know why 😭 Her potential positions could have been a main (or lead) vocalist.
    • Won Jion & Kishi Fumina: Like Yeonha and Luqi, i was potentially planning to add them to the group if they didn't make it to the final line-up of the survival show i put them in. Thankfully, both of them made it. Jion's potential positions could've been a main dancer, vocalist, and maybe rapper, and Fumina's could've been a vocalist.
  • These faceclaims were considered for the line-up:
    • Lynn, Jiyeon, Hayeon, Kaede, Nakyoung, & Kotone (tripleS)
    • Riina (H1-KEY)
    • Hyeonju/Belle (UNIS/Cignature)
    • Gahyun (Dreamcatcher)
    • Moka & Iroha (ILLIT)
    • Nana & Wooyeon (woo!ah!)
    • Heejin (ARTMS/LOONA)
    • Hyeju (Loossemble/LOONA)
    • Yeyoung (Geenius)
    • Nagomi & MiU (MADEIN)
    • Jiheon (fromis_9)
    • Hikaru (Kep1er)
    • Rei (IVE)
    • Haerin, Hyein, & Hanni (NJZ)
    • Sullyoon & Haewon (NMIXX)
