Nam Hyunwoo (남현우) is a South Korean actor and singer-songwriter. He is best known as a member of Anomii, formed through the reality competition program Into The Spotlight.
Early life[]
Nam Hyunwoo was born on November 14, 2004 in Yeonggwang County, South Jeolla Province, South Korea. He is the youngest of three children, with his mother being a retired boarding school teacher and his father being an employee at the South Korean government's Ministry of Unification. They moved to Mokpo City in 2008, and recalled his family having frequent tensions with his neighbors, at one point almost escalating to violence that prompted them to call the police. However, he recalled that the neighbor family had a daughter whose singing practices he could hear from his bedroom all the time, which inspired him to try dabbling into music at one point. At one point, Hyunwoo begged his father to buy him an intermediate English textbook so he could learn how to sing English songs properly. When he was 13, Hyunwoo decided to start taking up acting lessons, wanting to challenge himself as he had been fascinated by the talent of the actresses in the K-dramas he was watching.
Career[]
2019[]
In November 2019, Hyunwoo made his debut in the acting industry in the independent Christian drama film The Time Before Tomorrow, playing the younger version of the leading male character in a flashback.
2021[]
In 2021, Hyunwoo had his first lead acting role after appearing in the short film When The Air Gets Tighter, which follows the psychological struggles of a middle school student and academic achiever who finds himself falsely accused of bullying and physical assault. The short film, which was released on YouTube, went viral on social media and reached over 1 million views in less than a month.
Hyunwoo first trained under Ivory Entertainment Group from 2021 to 2023, before leaving as he was likely unable to make the cut for one of the company's pre-debut teams. In June 2024, he signed up with a small company named TOKDO Entertainment, which was home to a few actors and ballad singers. While he was initially training to be part of a boy group under the company, plans fell apart due to financial constraints, and in early 2025, Hyunwoo told the agency, who had considered letting him go, that he was willing to compete in an upcoming boy group survival show as his last resort while signed under them.

In 2023, Hyunwoo made his film debut as a supporting role in the independent investigative thriller film One-Hit Worship, which followed an investigative journalist unit's probe into an entertainment industry cult associated with human trafficking and blackmail practices.
2024[]
In 2024, Hyunwoo had his first prominent role as an actor in the horror film An Ideal Family. Inspired by a familicide case in the mid-2010s, the film followed the upper-class Kang family's fall into entropy that resulted in a murder-suicide incident. His performance as the socially awkward and troubled younger brother Kang Rio received praise from viewers, and he was named by the Hangang Film Critics Circle as one of the Rising Actors of 2024.
2025[]
In January 2025, Hyunwoo had his first appearance in a music recording after featuring in singer-songwriter and Into The Spotlight co-star Byun Yanbin's debut studio album Boots Stop Working, on the track "Bloodsucker".
In February 2025, Hyunwoo was revealed to compete in the survival audition program Into The Spotlight. During the beginning of the show, he was already popular especially among Korean fans for his visuals and his catchy introduction video, ranking 2nd place in the first episode. In the Individual Evaluation, he covered Nae Sieun's "Couldn't Tell You", receiving 2-Stars and retaining it in the Signal Song Evaluation. In the Girl Group Song Battle, he performed DREAMSCAPE's "Motivation". In the Position Battle, he performed as part of the dance evaluation team that covered WARRIOR's "Samurai", with the team winning in the category and being praised for their stage's medieval concept. In the Creative Concept Battle, he performed "I.A.L.Y (I'll Always Love You)". In the final episode, he ranked 6th place with 716,201 votes, debuting as part of project boy group Anomii.

Nam Hyunwoo was appointed as an individual endorser for cosmetics and beauty brand Innisfree in December 2025. In January 2026, he had a solo fan meeting in Seoul, with tickets selling out in less than 10 minutes.

Hyunwoo is an actively practicing Roman Catholic, and previously was a member of the youth organization of his local church. He also revealed in an interview that he previously suffered from avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID).
Personality[]
Stealing from the nachos of iconic female idols like Wonyoung, Sana, and Chuu, Hyunwoo is the epitome of aegyoful. During Into The Spotlight, Hyunwoo was one of the most popular contestants among Korean voters, and the reason's fairly obvious. While he wasn't the best dancer, singer, or rapper, he is the textbook definition of a likeable idol, with his naturally cute visuals and stage presence that made him a prominent candidate for the debut group's center. He is considered Anomii's face of the group (FOTG), receiving love calls from countless advertisers for his undeniable appeal towards the younger generation, particularly the demographic of teenage girls. However, it would be offensive to simply dismiss him as just another "pretty face" and a crime to call him a "dozen", as he himself takes the initiative to take more artist development lessons despite already debuting. Outside his skills and charisma, Hyunwoo is also a genuinely kind person, who is very articulate in his words and will write the most heartfelt messages to his fans.
