MOSAIC is a global co-ed group managed in collaboration between HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment and YG Entertainment (and others). The group aims to push the boundaries of music and K-Pop worldwide. The members were each revealed individually and then as a unit at different KCon events between 2019 and 2023.
Etymology[]
The groups name comes from the idea of Roman mosaics. The idea that smaller pieces of stone come together to make a larger picture in unity. During each members video introduction, the video opened with that members unique mosaic piece drifting across the screen along with the country/countries they represent.

MOSAIC is described as a "coalition between company, members, and fans", with all three parties being able to vote on the activities each member partake in. They break the boundaries of K-pop entirely with each member being able to showcase a different style of music and personality each Super Rotation. The group breaks the normal of many co-ed groups in K-pop, by switching between a more common "boy group" and "girl group" sound entirely each time.
Voting and Units[]
The voting takes place on an app called "puzZLE". For "Super Rotations" (year long periods), the companies decide number of sub-units, and the numbers for each are randomly drawn. From December 26th-31st each year, the concept teasers and soundbites of each concept are released before voting starts on January 1st. The voting period takes place over 2 weeks, with the members vote being revealed at the end of the first week (usually weighted as a vote of 100p). On January 15th, the groups are decided and over the next year (until December 25th, but promotions can continue past that if it is a later release), those units will promote and release music when they like (typically twice a year).
Minor Rotations are smaller, one-off sub-units that have between 4-8 members and are based off of a theme. Companies will nominate one boy and one girl from their company to be voted for, and other members can nominate themselves if they wish. The voting period is only 3 days, and the members with the most votes become part of the group. The period of time to record, film, release and promote Minor Rotations is only around 2 months, and rarely clash with Super Rotations.
Fans earn 1 voting point each week, and can earn more by either signing up to varying levels of monthly premium membership (ranging from $2.99-$19.99), which will give an extra 4-39 points, plus other perks. Fans can also complete weekly challenges set on the app to earn extra voting points if they wish. Scanning the QR code on the backs of physical albums will give fans an extra 100 points to spend on rotations.
Members also have the power to form groups and sub-units as they wish, granted they either produce their own songs/albums or pay staff an agreed amount to do so. Companies will then pay for music show promotions etc. Many members of the group have produced, filmed, and promoted their own solo songs.
Finally, the group has 2 "set groups, and 3 "flexible groups", based off of age and discipline. The set groups are "MoJUNIOR" and "MoSENIOR", composing of the oldest and youngest 4 boys and girls (with some exceptions), they do not change but rarely promote music and are more cover groups for performances. The flexible groups are "MoVOCAL", "MoDANCE", and "MoRAP" and compose of the companies decided best 3 boys and girls in each category, they change every so often, but only because some members do not wish to be part of that group anymore/want to change groups. Like the set groups, they rarely promote music and are more cover groups for performances.
