LUMINESCENT (Korean: 루미네센트; Japanese: ルミンネセント), formerly known as WONDERGIRLZ (원더걸스), is a multinational 12-member girl group under MYLAB. Consisting of Kaehwa, Minsi, Harumi, Ye Bi, Yushin, Na Ran, Liana, Yan Chen, Ri.U, Jiran, Jaei.N, and Mika, they made their debut on October 15, 2024, with the mini album wondering.
History[]
Pre-debut[]
The group was conceived during a meeting with MYLAB CEOs Mark Song and Kaiden Yeung on March 30, 2023. A day later, in an interview, Yeung revealed that he and Song were preparing to form a group that was "practically aced out" in all potential areas of talent, including producing, songwriting, and acting. Additionally, he wished to create "the female version" of popular boy group SEVENTEEN and were currently casting those the company deemed suitable for the group. Lastly, he revealed that any trainees announced under the group were not destined to be fully permanent members unless stated otherwise.
On October 21, 2023, MYLAB reported that 3 trainees have been "locked in" for the group. A day later, Minsi, Na Ran, and Jaei.N. were announced as the first 3 members of the group. Prior to joining MYLAB, Minsi was a producer under AURORAN House. The next day, Lana was announced as a trainee under the group.
On December 10, 2023, MYLAB announced that the group will be divided into 3 units: a vocal unit, a dance unit, and a rap unit. While the possibility of the units releasing solo material was unlikely, MYLAB ensured that the units would be featured on the group's albums from time to time. Additionally, the group will "change release lineups" every release, where half of the members will participate in one release while the other half will participate in the other. The goal for these changes, according to Yeung, would help promote the members' talents both individually and as a group and hoped to expose the group more to the spotlight.
On January 20, 2024, Songyubin, Liyu, Ye Bi and Mizi were announced as trainees under the group. A day later, Lana announced her departure from the group and the company due to personal reasons. On February 1, 2024, Liana, Yan Chen, and Mika were announced as trainees, followed by Thea, Eunbin, and Sakura the next day, bring the total amount of members to thirteen.

On March 10, 2024, Ri.U was revealed as a "locked in" trainee.
On May 29, 2024, it was reported that former QUEENDOM: 4 Dimensions contestants Moon Kae Hwa and Yu Shin Yeong were set to debut in the upcoming girl group after being spotted by potential members of the group and MYLAB staff. Additionally, it was reported that they are preparing to debut in the second half of 2024.
On August 20, 2024, MYLAB announced the group's "designations" and the group name to be WONDERGIRLZ. Additionally, the company revealed that they had finished selecting the members and confirmed that Songyubin, Liyu, Mizi, Thea, Eunbin, and Sakura had been cut from the lineup and had went back to training. However, all except Songyubin would leave the company.
On September 1, 2024. the lineup of WONDERGIRLZ was revealed to consist of previously confirmed members Minsi, Na Ran, Jaei.N, and Ri.U, trainees Ye Bi, Liana, Yan Chen, and Mika, and finally the last confirmed members to be Kaehwa, Harumi, Yushin, and Jiran.
2024: Name change, debut with wondering, interdimensional, beacon[]
On September 29, 2024, the group announced their debut to be on October 15, with the mini album wondering. In an interview with MYLAB CEO Kaiden Yeung, the group plans to release 2 mini albums in November and December. A week later, due to immense backlash from WonderFul, the fanbase of K-pop girl group Wonder Girls, that claimed the name was direct plagiarism to the group, announced their new name to be LUMINESCENT.
On October 8, the group announced their upcoming mini albums interdimensional and beacon, set to be released in November and December respectively. However, 6 members will be featured in the release. interdimensional will feature members Kaehwa, Harumi, Yan Chen, Jiran. Jaei.N, and Mika, while beacon will feature members Minsi, Ye Bi, Yushin, Na Ran, Liana, and Ri.U.
2025-present: "Swan Story", LUMINESCENT Diary[]
On March 6, 2025, the group suddenly released the music video for their first digital single "Swan Story". Later that same day, it was reported that "Swan Story" would serve as a pre-release for their upcoming mini album, which was set to feature all 12 members. The next day, the group announced that they will release their fourth mini album LUMINESCENT Diary on March 23.
