Kozué[]
Mochizuki Kozue, (望月 こずえ, Hangul: 모치즈키 코즈에), simply known by her first name Kozue, is a Japanese singer under Heaven's Entertainment. She placed first on the reality survival show Star Maker 101, making her the main vocalist and center of the girl group LUNIVER. Following the group's disbandment, she re-debuted in COLORING+' co-ed group RANDOMIZE in 2023.
Kozue was the first Heaven's idol to be declared as Wild Card, debuting in a non-Heaven's group.
Background[]
Kozue was born in Nagasaki, Japan, and lives a relatively happy life with doting parents and a little sister. Her parents discovered her musical talent in early childhood, particularly singing and playing the piano. She took piano and vocal lessons and was participated in choir at both her school and her church. Growing up, she has been described as a talented, cheerful, lively, and happy-go-lucky girl. Her first introduction to K-pop was through Girls Generation and 6topia. Inspired by the two groups, she was determined to follow in their footsteps and set out to be a K-idol herself.

Kozue is a social butterfly with a wide range of interests and a penchant for talking about anything and everything. She's the friend who doesn't mind being the center of attention and the one who draws people together in group settings. Her positive and restless personality makes her seem like an attention whore, yet her intentions are always pure. She is aware of how people often perceive her negatively, as she was often labeled as such when she was younger. She used to think about it which lead her to suppressing her boundless enthusiasm and energy often, but this strategy never paid off. For her, it is more difficult to betray her true self than to listen to what haters have to say. Nonetheless, the bullying experience she went through left a permanent coping mechanism in which she keeps herself mentally busy to avoid dealing with emotions, although this occurs less frequently as time goes on.
Kozue is an eloquent and charming conversationalist who uses humor to make friends and boost their self-esteem. She listens to what others say and talks about her interests and funny moments. She is an expert at remembering details, thus making her a sensible person. Her humor and easy-going trait pave the way for her "cool but crazy girl" image, which puts people at ease around her.
After she debuted as a member of LUNIVER, Kozue devoted herself to fans with all her might. She loves communicating with fans through regular updates on the group's SNS. She is also fond of entertaining Lunights by appearing extra cheerful on stage, V live, fan signs, etc.

Vera Erdenebat[]
Kozue was a member of Heaven's Entertainment and trained with Vera. They first became buddies while taking Korean classes together. She looks up to Vera because she is a multilingual genius who can pick up Korean in no time. They were frequently observed participating in joint vocal training sessions. Kozue is a huge drama fan, so anytime Vera is cast in a role, she becomes very excited. Kozue also never misses an episode of a drama in which Vera appears in any capacity, no matter how minor. Kozue stated that Vera was more than simply a friend to her. That sister figure filled a void in her life.
As they are both sent by their company to go on the reality show Star Maker 101, they bond even more over their shared experience. They rely on one another as emotional and physical lifelines throughout the grueling months of rehearsal and performance. Kozue triumphed, coming in first place out of 101 competitors; she felt both overwhelming excitement and sadness at the news that Vera had been eliminated. Despite their busy schedules, Kozue revealed that she and Vera often hang out together these days.
Liu Min Wei[]
Kozue and Min Wei participated as contestants in the reality show Star Maker 101. Kozue, ever the social butterfly, approached Min Wei first since she knew she had a lot of experience as an idol and could teach her a thing or two. Their friendship started as a strictly professional relationship. However, as the show continued, they grew closer to each other. Kozue sobbed more when Min Wei's debut in the final lineup was revealed after she came in sixth place than when she was named the winner.

2018-2022: Trainee period[]
On 2018, she auditioned with Heaven's Entertainment and passed on the same year. She departed Japan to become an official trainee in her dream company. While working as a trainee, she continued her study at the Seoul School of Performing Arts and graduated in February 2021. Currently, she is focusing on improving her vocals and dancing skills. Her easygoing nature makes getting along with all Heaven's trainees easy.

2022: Star Maker 101 and debut with LUNIVER[]
Kozue in Star Maker 101
In January 2022, she was announced as a contestant on the survival show Star Maker 101. During the show's finale, she was revealed to have ranked 1st overall, thus making her a member of LUNIVER and the group's center. Later, it was announced that her official position would be the group's main vocalist and center.
Throughout the show, Kozue was very transparent about how she felt about the competition: altogether nervous, overwhelmed, exhausted, and emotionally drained. At the same time, however, she stated that the experience was great fun and a valuable learning lesson. She was able to establish lifetime-long friendships, improve her vocals and dancing skills, and, most importantly, find new confidence and strength she never knew she had before in her.
Kozue had a rocky start in the show as she was overshadowed by other trainees domestically due to her not meeting the Korean beauty standard. As the show progressed, she managed to shine and grab the public's attention slowly but surely due to her warm personality and tremendous growth as an artist. She was described to have a voice as sweet as honey and knew exactly how to turn the audience's attention to her.
During the finale, Kozue finished the competition in the first place, thus becoming a member and center of LUNIVER. Later, she was selected as the main vocalist of the group alongside Minwei.
Show summary:
In the 1st episode, she performed Iz*One's Secret Story of the Swan alongside Jeon Chaewon, Baek Miyeon, Yasufuku Marin, Surya Lestari, and Ryu Yong-Il and received a C grade.
In the 3rd episode, Kozue, who received a C grade in the previous episode, had to compete to earn a position in the top 25 in the vocal position. She was allocated to Vocal Team B and began to practice with her team to finally perform "Um Oh Ah Yeh" by Mamamoo. She came out victorious alongside PHX Entertainment's Tanaka Etsuko and 7-eye Entertainment's Kwon Minryu, earning her a position in the vocal team.

In the 4th episode, Kozue teamed up with her best friend of the same label, Vera Erdenebat in Vocal Team A to perform Decalcomanie by Mamamoo alongside Sang Jiwoo, MAY Park, and Jung Naeun. She practiced hard to ensure she could reach an equal footing with her fellow groupmates. When they were announced as the best vocal team of the episode, she jumped out excitement before collapsing into a group hug, teary-eyed. During the individual ranking announcement, she was extremely nervous but overjoyed knowing Vera made it to the next stage after landing on rank 39. Later, she did not expect her name to be called in the top 10 positions, let alone the top 9. As soon as her name was called, Kozue started tearing up from the support she was getting from fans. Through tears, Kozue said how much gratitude she feels for being given a chance and that she will try her hardest now that she's on the TOP9. She also thanked 6topia and Girls Generation as a group for being an inspiration for her to achieve her dreams.
In the 5th episode, Kozue was grouped with the White Team to perform Love Flower by Sequoia. Her group lost votes against the Black Team, but thankfully she ranked first on the individual rank based on the audience's votes. In the next episode, she has to compete against Yuri Seiko, who ranked first in the Black Team for the ninth place, by performing 2NE1's Come Back Home to see who wins the benefit of an extra 200 points to their teams score.
On the 6th episode, Kozue performed 2NE1's Come Back Home, where her lively vocals shined throughout her performance. Although she did not win, she felt proud of herself and showed her support to the winner Yuri Seiko. Backstage, however, she burst into tears and apologized to her team for "letting them down." The girls came to support and comfort her, telling her they were proud of her and felt honored to be represented by the talented Kozue.
In Episode 7th elimination round, Kozue ranked 2nd overall, exceeding her expectations, especially after her team lost episodes ago. She was on the verge of collapsing out of sheer joy and nervousness as she walked up to the stage, shaking after the reveal. She was glad that she somehow did not land on the 1st rank because if she was, she would faint immediately. Kozue thanked everyone who supported her and congratulated Jeon Miyoung, ranked 1st.
Kozue performed the concept battle song "Soulmates!" in the following two episodes with her teammates. Although the group's performance was ranked third, Kozue received the most individual votes, accumulating 1,883,948. She was overwhelmed and too stunned to speak but still overjoyed regardless. Her growth and confidence can be seen as she took the honor with grace and promised her supporters to continue her hard work.
During the elimination round, Kozue, who tried her best to remain calm, eventually broke down backstage as she received the 1st rank again, ultimately surviving to the finals round. She gave Miyoung, who placed 2nd, a big hug as she walked to the podium to thank her fans, now with a mix of her graceful and emotionally wrecked side. Afterward, she ran to give her best friend Vera a big hug after she got eliminated, and in return, Vera showed her support and cheered for her, hoping she could make it to the final line-up.
Kozue was content with herself and how far she had come during the finale. Unlike her usual self, she was composed, but only until she was announced as the show's 1st Rank winner. She expressed her deepest gratitude and love for her fans and later was seen to hug her fellow friends and celebrate the momentous day.
2023: Debut with RANDOMIZE[]
On February 2023, Kozue was announced as a member of the co-ed group RANDOMIZE, and debuted together with her ex-LUNIVER band mates, Heeun and Miyoung. They made their debut on May 1, 2023 with the single album Package One.[]
