Knights of the Round Table (나이테스 오브 더 로우엔드 테이블) is an upcoming South Korean survival show where 22 male trainees will compete to secure a spot in Olympic Records' next boy group. The show is set to premiere within the first quarter of 2024.
The show is billed as a continuation of QUEENDOM of CORDELIA.
Concept[]
The show focuses around twenty-two of Olympic Records' male trainees as they compete for a spot in the company's upcoming boy group. Guided through the competition by various mentors that have been handpicked from the company's roster of active artists, the boys will vie for the public's votes.
During the episodes, three trainees will be given the title of one of four of the famous Arthurian figures by the judges, each denoting something different;
- The Arthurs of the competition are the trainees the judges feel did the best that week, irrespective of voting. Arthurs are given immunity from elimination.
- The Merlins of the competition are the trainees that the judges recognise the effort of, seeing improvement or their dedication to enhancing their craft.
- The Mordreds of the competition are the trainees that the judges feel as if they did the worst that week, letting down themselves or their teams. Any contestant can be denoted as the Mordred, even if they are in the winning team.
- The Morgans of the competition are the trainees that the judges feel as if the trainee made a mistake but has the drive to improve from it. The denotation of Morgan should inspire the trainees to constantly improve.
Background[]
On December 23, 2023, it was revealed through Olympic Records' 2024 Outline that the company intended to debut a new boy group through a boy group survival show. In a further statement, it was confirmed that the show would be a sequel to QUEENDOM of CORDELIA and that the resulting boy group will take its place as the brother group to CORDELIA. It was announced that the lead creative director of Olympic Records and husband to the CEO Shin Maegeun, Lee Cheolyong, would be replacing his wife as the main overseer in the competition.
On December 28, a teaser was posted for the survival show, revealing the name as Knights of the Round Table. The teaser confirmed the survival show's broadcast time as the first quarter of 2024.
