Kim Jinhae (김진해) is a South Korean singer-songwriter, and rapper signed under Aprica Entertainment. He is a member of boy group CELOSIA.
History[]
Early Life[]
Kim Jinhae was born on March 12, 2007, in Jinhae-gu, Changwon City, South Gyeongsang, South Korea, to a couple whose names are undisclosed. He is the youngest out of three, with an older brother (Kim Kyungsang, born in 1999), and an older sister (Kim Doha, born in 2003). His mother and father are both teachers at a private school in their city.
His name (Jinhae) is an uncommon name, his parents were originally going to name him Joonsung, but when his mother gave birth, their cities cherry blossoms, (in which Jinhae, the city they live in is best known for) bloomed when he was born, thus his parents went with naming him Jinhae to remember the day, saying that just like the cherry blossoms of their city, they hope for him to bloom into a well-rounded adult.
Growing up, him and his siblings lived fairly well off, enjoying going on vacations and having many after school activities such as swimming and soccer.
Jinhae had always dreamed of being on stage when he was a kid. As such, he often participated in his elementary schools music programs, as well as taking further vocal lessons to help improve his voice.
In 2019, talent scouts appeared at the mall when he was with his family, and he was stopped by a scout from Blair Entertainment, asking if he wanted to audition for the company. Knowing of Blair, who was home to EMERGE and the newly debuted WYVERN, with him having been a fan of EMERGE since they debuted, he accepted and went to audition for the company during his school break.
Joining Blair Entertainment[]
Jinhae joined Blair Entertainment's then unrevealed pre-debut program Blair Boys on March 18, 2019, at 12 years old.
During his time as a trainee, he revealed that he was always given main vocal parts due to his singing, but as the years went by, and with no word on the next boy group being made, Jinhae began to lose hope.
When the trainee team that would make AEON was formed in April of 2022, in which Jinhae was not part of the starting line up, Jinhae while dejected from not being part of the pre-debut line up, began looking for other companies that can house him as a trainee and for his potential debut.
During this time, he was approached by Aprica Entertainment, with potential offers for him to join their trainee program, due to the companies working so closely together, and knowing that he would still see his friends in Blair Boys, he accepted, and transferred his trainee contract to Aprica Entertainment.
Joining Apricot Entertainment[]
Jinhae joined Aprica Entertainment on June 9, 2022, at 15 years old. During his time as a trainee there, he knew mostly everyone due to him having trained with them as both Blair and Aprica Entertainment often hosted training sessions together.
Joining Apricot Boys[]
After only training in Aprica for three months, Jinhae was revealed as a new member of Apricot Boys.
Career[]
2024-Present: Debut with CELOSIA, lyricist and composer debut[]
On February 14, Jinhae along with the rest of CELOSIA were formally revealed on NAVIS COLUMBA's YouTube Channel under the video "Meet US CELOSIA".
On April 20, Jinhae was revealed as the seventh member of CELOSIA.
On April 27, Jinhae and the rest of CELOSIA debuted with their mini album Fire in Me.
On April 30, Jinhae appeared on Geonu's music show Vocal Core, as the guest for its 42nd Episode.
On November 18, Jinhae made his composer and lyricist debut on CELOSIA's second mini album Love Glitch. He helped write and compose "Welcome to our glitch"
Personal Life[]
Education[]
When Jinhae joined Blair Entertainment, he was in his sixth and final year of elementary school. He graduated from elementary school in 2020, and transferred to a middle school in Seoul. He stayed their until he graduated from it in 2023.
He started attending School of Performing Arts Seoul. In the school, he is part of their Department of Practical Dance.
As of 2024, he is in his second year of high school.
Personality[]
Most trainees and members know Jinhae as someone who is kind and responsible. Often seen leading the younger trainees. Due to him having trained for longer then most of them, a lot of the trainees view him as someone that they could come to when it comes to trainee questions.
Outside of that, alot of the members of CELOSIA have stated that Jinhae is a brat with them, often whining when he wants attention, the other older members have all said that its one of Jinhae's cute points about him and that it still reminds them of his age because of it.
Friendships in CELOSIA[]
- Nakano Kazuyuki:
- Jung Sungyoung: Jinhae and Sungyoung have known each other since their Blair Boys days, and when Jinhae showed up during an Aprica trainee practice Sungyoung was really surprised and also excited because he was quite close to Jinhae back in Blair Boys.
- Park Wooju: Due to Blair Boys' and Aprica Entertainment trainees often seeing each other often due to the companies close relationship, Wooju has known about Jinhae for a few years prior to Jinhae joining Aprica. When the younger finally was transferred over to the company, Wooju was excited because he had only heard good things about the younger. He was happy to know that he was right, him and Jinhae get along really well, often having sleep overs in Jinhae's room.
- Seo Yeonghwan: Jinhae and Yeonghwan are often the two that stay in the practice rooms the longest out of the nine, due to them often staying back to focus on their weak points in their performances. Due to this, they often had a lot of downtime to talk to one another. It was here where they developed a sense on companionship with one another.
- Minamaguchi Makoto: With Jinhae, Makoto revealed that they didn't get along at first because of a misunderstanding, but Sungyoung sat them both down and locked them in a room together until they could figure out their differences. From here, both of them have since made an effort to talk to each other first about anything that bothers them, helping them form a close friendship in which they can be honest with each other.
- Hunter Yoon: Jinhae and Hunter are often the two members that stick around together the most, often because they go to the same school and have the same classes together. This has caused them both to learn ho to rely on each other and be able to talk things out with each other. Due to this, they often lead the maknae line together, with Hunter being called "Maknae-Father" and Jinhae being called 'Maknae-Mother" as a result.
- Takami Hayato: When Hayato joined their team, he was the first one to properly greet the younger, seeing that this was Hayato's first time being part of a pre-debut line up as well, Jinhae took the younger in and showed him the ropes, such as when the group does practices, when they all eat together etc. Because of this, Hayato has seen Jinhae as a kind responsible older brother that he can come to with help if he needs it.
- Seok Jumin: Jumin joined Aprica earlier in the year then he did, and as such, they knew each other slightly back from Jinhae's Blair Boy days. When Jinhae moved to Aprica as a trainee, he revealed that he and Jumin didn't get along as much due to them always arguing about anything and everything. Over time as they continued to grow, they have since found common ground and even hang out on their free time together after spending more and more time together.
