Kang Donggun (강동건) is a South Korean actor, singer-songwriter and dancer currently under 4Bloc Music. He is currently a member of multinational co-ed group Randomize, which debuted in May 2023. Prior to his debut in an idol group, he made his solo debut on January 16, 2021 with the mini album Boxed In, and the title track "상자에" ("Inside The Box"). He was also relatively known as an actor, receiving recognition for his roles in Flickered (2017), Goodnight My Teddy Bear (2018) and [[My Everything' (2019).

Kang Dong-gun was born in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, South Korea, on October 13, 1998.
Career[]
2017–2020: Acting career, idol training announcement, postponed debut[]
In September 2017, Donggun obtained his first drama role when he appeared as supporting character Bang Daejung in KTB TV2's Flickered. This marked his debut as an actor. On November 18, 2017, LYR Entertainment announced via Instagram and YouTube that Donggun had decided to begin his training to become an idol, revealing that he had a stronger passion for music.
In April 2018, he obtained his second drama role when he appeared as male protagonist Yang Hangyul in KTB TV2's Goodnight My Teddy Bear. In December 2018, he obtained his third drama role when he appeared as supporting character Im Hanyoung in KTB TV2's Fly High, Haewon. In August 2019, he obtained his fourth drama role when he appeared as supporting character Kim Chang Woo in KCC2's My Everything.
On July 13, 2020, LYR released official debut teasers for Kang Donggun, consisting of several photos and short clips. On September 2, 2020, the agency announced that they had decided to postpone Donggun's idol debut stating that they were currently organising a few other debut plans and didn't want to give Donggun only half of their attention, as they wanted his debut to be successful.
2021: Debut with Boxed In, Escape, Travel To My Escape, FestiVista, "Reload", Reload: The Album[]
On January 16, 2021, Kang Donggun made his official solo debut with his mini album Boxed In. On May 5, 2021, Donggun released his second mini album Escape. Its lead single, "Inside The Box (상자에)" was a commercial success, after going viral on social media and subsequently leading to the song reaching a new peak of #8 on the Gaon Digital Chart. As a result, the singer earned his first win on TOP ICON after ranking first place on the January 18, 2021, episode. The singer also revealed his official fandom name, "DingDongs", while his Instagram officially reached 50,000 followers at the beginning of February.
On June 11, 2021, he obtained his fifth drama role when he appeared as male protagonist Chang Hyeonu in Netflix's Travel To My Escape. On July 21, 2021, he attended his first music festival at the 2021 FestiVista. On September 10, 2021, he pre-released his first digital single, "Reload", before its inclusion in his first studio album, Reload: The Album, which was released on December 5.
2022: "Beauty Full Butterfly", Love:Waverly[]
On July 3, he was announced as one of the participating artists in the collaborative summer project, Summer Smiles Project. His special single, "Beauty Full Butterfly" was released on August 1 as part of the full Summer Smiles album. On August 1, he obtained his sixth drama role when he appeared as male protagonist Lee Gyu-jin in MKM Media's Love:Waverly.
2023: Randomize[]
On February 20, 2023, it was announced that LYR Entertainment had officially shut down due to bankruptcy, leaving Donggun and the other artists without an agency. While the first few days following the company's bankruptcy and loss of the resources that supported his solo career was turbulent, he immediately recovered and announced on his individual Instagram that he wanted to take the brief time as a free agent to rethink his career decisions, later reaffirming that he will continue making music but might "pop up somewhere unexpected". After posting the Story, Donggun became inactive on social media.
In April 2023, Donggun was introduced as a member of 4Bloc Music sub-label GlitchOS' co-ed group Randomize. Randomize officially made their debut on May 1, 2023 with Package One.

In June 2018, he was selected as an exclusive model for school uniform brand Ivy Club's 2018 fall semester, resulting in his first endorsement.
On February 1, 2021, Donggun was chosen to become the new model for beauty brand Clio Cosmetics, resulting in his second endorsement. On September 6, he was chosen to become the new model for cosmetic brand Nacific, resulting in his third endorsement.
On April 4, 2022, he was appointed as the ambassador for Philippine retail brand Bench, resulting in his fourth endorsement and first ambassadorship.
