Kang Daniel (Korean: 강다니엘; commonly stylized as K.D); October 25, 1996) is a South Korean singer-songwriter, actor and producer under HYPE.
He made his debut on October 12, 2018, with the mini album Paua.
Life and Career[]
Kang Daniel (hereafter known as Kang) was born in Busan, South Korea as the only child of his family. He began dancing in eighth when he joined a break-dancing club suggested by his teacher and later attended a dance academy in Busan called Nataraja Academy. Kang initially started out as a trainee under B2M Entertainment which he left after being mistreated, he then became a soloist under HYPE.
2018: Solo debut with Paua[]
On October 12, 2018, Kang Daniel made his solo debut with his first mini album titled Paua. His debut was immensely successful giving him a total of 5 music show wins including his first ever all kill on the charts.
2019: Las Palmas, Sangria[]
On January 9, 2019 Kang Daniel released his second mini album titled Las Palmas with the lead single of the same name. On January 26, Kang Daniel was announced as the newest global ambassador for Nike, he released his first ever collaboration with Nike on March 4, with a promotional single titled "Greatness (feat. IO)".
On May 10, HYPE confirmed that Kang Daniel is preparing for a June comeback. On June 1, he announced that he will be making a comeback on June 15, with his third mini album Sangria.
2020: My Colours Pt 1, My Colours Pt 2, "DARK"[]
On February 1, 2020, HYPE announced that Kang Daniel is preparing to release two repackage mini albums of Las Palmas and Sangria titled My Colours Pt 1 and My Colours Pt 2. On March 10, My Colours Pt 1 was released with a new lead single titled "Moccasin". On July 10, My Colours Pt 2 was released with "Sangria (HYLO Remix)" serving as the mini albums lead single.
On October 31, Kang Daniel released his first single "DARK", the MV was made by Death Productions.
2021: Acting debut, "Wasted", The Hiest, Retold[]
On March 2, 2021, Kang Daniel released his second single "Wasted", it peaked at number four in Korea and number ten in the United Kingdom (marking his first ever time on the UK Charts) and won on MBC's Show! Music Core. Kang Daniel released his fourth mini album The Hiest on July 23 with the lead single "H.I.E.S.T", a repackage of The Hiest titled Retold was released on September 26 with a new lead single "Retold". Kang Daniel set off on his first ever world tour "K.D DARK 1st World Tour" on December 2, 2021.
2022: THE RETURN and GROOVEE[]
On August 5, 2022, Kang Daniel released his fifth mini album THE RETURN with the title track sharing the same name.
On November 12, 2022, Kang Daniel launched his own energy drink brand called GROOVEE.
2023: PARADE, "LWWA"[]
On March 29, 2023, HYPE announced that Kang Daniel would be making a comeback with his sixth mini album PARADE on April 10 with the pre-release single "Look Where We Are (LWWA)" set to release on the April 1.
2024: "Go For It"[]
On February 4, 2024, Kang Daniel announced his third digital single "Go For It" set to release on February 29.
Station V[]
On April 23, 2022 Kang Daniel was revealed as a contestant for the large-scale reality survival show Station V, which was later cancelled.
