K-Paradise is the Special Feature of October 2024

K-Paradise (also stylized in all caps) is an annual convention held in Seoul, South Korea, created by Kim Hyunwoo and sponsored by MNET. It was first held in Seoul, South Korea on September 20-23, 2024, and has since had concerts happen annually in April and September each year since.

Background[]

The first inklings and ideas for K-Paradise were formed around 2020, after the COVID'19 pandemic took a hold on the world. With creative director Kim Hyunwoo wanted to create an event that K-pop fans can come and see with a mixture of different artists, big or small, indie or commercialized, and as such the ground work for the event took place, with its first expected concert originally supposed to take place in January 2022.

Despite the first concert supposed to be announced for January 2022, troubles came with it as vendors and backers, voicing concern due to the the world having just fully came out of COVID'19, and the urgency and overpopulation of concerts started to become more prevalent. As such, it was advised to Hyunwoo for K-Paradise to be held back a bit longer as more planning came to a halt and the producers went back to the drawing board.

Formats[]

K-Paradise has two show formats:

  • April K-Paradise: Premium Paradise, during which several groups will be invited to perform a mini concert, performing up to 8 songs in a space dedicated to them called (Group Name)-Paradise. This is considered the highest category for a K-Paradise attending group as they are given their own mini concert all expenses paid.
  • September K-Paradise: In September K-Paradises, cover/collab stages for the rookie groups of that year and the year prior are held. Often the rookie groups will come together and send 2-3 of their members for the collaboration in which they will perform iconic songs from different era's of K-pop.
