Kim Ji-na (Korean : 김지나, born January 25, 1998 in Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea), professionally known by her stage name Jina (Korean : 지나), is a South Korean singer, dancer, actress and model. She made her debut as a member of the South Korean-Chinese-Japanese girl group KCJ Girl Group Project in 2013, and left the group in 2020 to pursue an acting career.

Early life[]

Kim was born on January 25, 1998 in Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province. She auditioned for the KCJ Girl Group Project Korea auditions in 2006 at the age of 8. After being one of the selected trainees, she left her home and moved to Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea into the building of K-DAY Music. She trained under the company for 7 years till her debut.

Career[]

2013-2020 : Debut with KCJ Girl Group Project, participation on Idol Election Girls[]

After her 7-year trainee period, she made her debut as one of the members of Group 5 of Team K of the 2013 line-up of KCJ Girl Group Project, also known as the "7th generation" members of the group, with the extended play We Girls. In 2018, she was transferred to Team K's Group 3.

She gained mid-popularity in the group. Her highest rank during KCJ Girls Elections Team K was 9, while her lowest rank was 81. During the KCJ Girls Elections, annual elections were all teams (Team K, Team C, Team J) participate in, her highest rank was 12, and her lowest rank was 102.

In 2019, she appeared as a contestant on the South Korean reality survival competition series Idol Election Girls. She ranked 39th on the show and was eliminated, failing to get a spot in the show's final group Girls Who Won. She returned to her group after her elimination.

She announced her graduation on December 23, 2019. She graduated from the group on January 5, 2020 and terminated her contract with K-DAY Entertainment to pursue an acting career.

2020-present : Acting and modeling career[]

On May 3, 2020, she made her acting debut with a minor role in the South Korean drama series Butterfly. Her popularity rose after featuring in the South Korean drama series Waiting For Love as the main role.

After graduating from KCJ Girl Group Project, she started a modeling career as well. She modeled for several South Korean fashion and cosmetics brands, such as Beauty The Best Korea.
