I MISSPELLED MY NAME ONCE is a special single by singer-songwriter Kaerom released on May 05, 2025.
Background[]
Kaerom wrote the song on his own during a rainy night, and then went to his studio and did the whole production part alone as well. Literally no one but him knew about the single until the moment it got released.
Kaerom wanted to release this song specifically as his first project under his own label, KaeROOM.
Even thought it was released as a standalone single, I MISSPELLED MY NAME ONCE and a rock folk version of it would later go on to be included as physical version exclusives of Kaerom's third full album SO I RISE.
Composition[]
Even though for streaming platform's purposes it was shortened, the single's full title is i misspelled my name once and for some reason it became my stage name but then i realized i don't like it because it's like an ominous message and makes me feel like everything in my career will be a mistake so then i tried to change it to my actual name but it didn't stick because my fans were already used to the misspelling so i had to bite the bullet and learn to appreciate the little things in life because even if it wasn't my intention, that's the name you all know me as and i love that. with love, kaerom (yes, i am dropping the period, that part i don't like).
Despite the title, the song has nothing to do with Kaerom's name or career. Instead, the song talks about Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Kaerom talks about how pretentious it was for the author to write a book criticizing adulthood and their way of life while simultaneously aiming the story towards children, which is inherently perpetuating the "adults don't do child things" stereotype. He explained that the song's name stems from the idea that, just like the author, he was trying to find his way out of something by prompting everyone to act upon it even more:
"At some point I realized that by changing my stage name all I was doing was confusing people and telling them how they should address me. You, as a fan, are allowed to show me your love however you like, as long as it isn't disrespectful to me or my art".
