Hyeonju

Goo Hyunjoo (Korean: 구현주), known professionally as Hyeonju (현주), is a South Korean singer, dancer, actress and model currently under entertainment agency M&A Entertainment and modelling agency YG KPlus. She made her solo debut on September 12, 2019 with the mini album Our Story : Memory, and the title track "Tape Of Memories".

As an actress, she is known for her roles in Here's To The Mess Known As Us (2016), Ocean? Beach! (2017), Flickered (2017), and I Wonder Too (2018).

Career[]

2013–2015: REWIND, modelling career[]

She debuted as a member of REWIND on February 8, 2013 with the group's first mini album Stop The Clock.

On June 7, 2015, Lime Entertainment announced Hyeonju would be leaving REWIND due to reoccurring health issues and constant mistreatment by the other members. After completing schedules in late June, she officially left REWIND.

On October 12, 2015, Hyeonju announced that she had signed a contract under YG KPlus to pursue a career in modelling.

2016–2019: New agency, acting career[]

On March 14, 2016, M&A Entertainment announced that Hyeonju had signed a contract with the agency. On June 2, the day of GOAL's debut, M&A released a statement apologising to fans who thought Hyeonju would debut with the group, as there were rumours that she was part of the lineup floating around at the time the group's teasers were revealed.

In November 2016, Hyeonju obtained her first drama role when she appeared as supporting character Min Eun-joo in KBS2's Here's To The Mess Known As Us. As her first drama role had been a warm-hearted and supportive supporting character, she attracted attention for her wholesome acting and beautiful visuals.

In February 2017, Hyeonju obtained her second drama role when she appeared as supporting character Lee Byeol Ah in Naver TV's Ocean? Beach!. Showcasing a more playfully sarcastic role, her second role had many viewers dubbing her as "ideal girlfriend material." In September, Hyeonju obtained her third drama role when she starred as female antagonist Bang Sa-rang in KTB TV2's Flickered. While playing a rather deranged and satirical character this time around, she gained several kudos from the general public for being able to pull the role off so well so early in her acting career.

In March 2018, Hyeonju obtained her fourth drama role when she starred as female antagonist Shin Miyung in KakaoTV and Netflix's I Wonder Too. Playing her second antagonist, this particular role garnered Hyeonju lots of malicious comments. However, the comments had not been targeted at her, but rather her character Shin Miyung—for "messing up the main characters' relationship." When responding to these comments, the star said, "While some of the comments are quite hurtful, it makes me really proud to see that my acting's improved so much that I'm getting hated for it. [Chuckles]. I guess, to me, the comments aimed at Miyung are like feedback that tell me I did a pretty decent job at the role I was given."

In January 2019, Hyeonju obtained her fifth drama role when she appeared as supporting character Kim Tam-Hee in Naver TV's Scared Of The Darkness. In April, Hyeonju obtained her sixth drama role when she appeared as supporting character Kang Minyoung in KBS2's Vote YES. Not only did she gain positive recognition for her consistent acting, but she also gained recognition for her sweet vocals since Vote YES had many musical numbers featuring Hyeonju.

2019–2022: Solo debut, idol career[]

On August 15, 2019, she released her pre-debut pre-release digital song "Still Thinking Of You" which was later included in her official debut mini album named Our Story : Memory, released on September 12. On November 12, she revealed her fandom name, Jooey.

On May 17, 2020, Hyeonju released her first comeback and second mini album named Believe after teaser photos and videos began getting released on May 7. On December 3, she released her third mini album named Our Story : Trust.

On May 1, 2021, Hyeonju released her first single album Pliano 04, after a teaser video was released on April 9. On July 21, she attended her first music festival at the 2021 FestiVista.

On February 10, 2022, Hyeonju released her first studio album named Our Story : Burn.
