Hwang Yu-geum (황유금) is a South Korean singer-songwriter, variety personality, actress, and video game developer. She is best known as a member of 1st generation K-pop girl group Cloud Nine which debuted in 1998. She has also been recognized for her role as a permanent cast member in widely successful variety program Sisters Class.

Early life[]

Hwang Yu-geum was born in the coastal city of Mokpo, South Korea, on June 15, 1982. Her family was of the lower class, and at their best “was only getting by”. As a child, she would constantly accompany her mother in selling cheap imported goods at the local public market, and also occasionally helped out a fabric manufacturing plant until she was told by an adult that she was technically not allowed. As her father fell ill and succumbed to prostate cancer, Yugeum became more determined to raise her mother and her younger sister out of poverty. Inspired by a female childhood friend who was good at singing and dancing, Yugeum decided to learn how to sing and eventually started busking at a local park. [1]

A global leaderboard shows the highest ranking users from the app's entire database, and users are given the opportunity to trade virtual idol photocards that they earn from hitting certain challenging benchmarks in rounds.
