ganagu (가나구) is a 6-Member South Korean Girl Group under JOYFUL Entertainment. Originally as 8, they debuted in March 18, 2017, with the Mini Album "Instruction A: JOY".
History[]
ganagu debuted on March 18, 2017 with the Mini Album "Instruction A: JOY" as 8 Members.
Member Hyeyoon announced her departure from the group on September 2, 2018, for Anxiety and Personal Health problems. JOYFUL Entertainment stated that ganagu would continue 7-Member Promotions.
On February 22, 2020, JOYFUL Entertainment announced that Sumi would take part on a Chinese Survival Show "Nǐ néng xíng de (你能行的)" and would be absent on the upcoming album. She will return after the promotions in China end.
On February 29, 2020 JOYFUL Entertainment announced a new member going by the name Yuri that would join Ganagu for future promotions.
on January 11, 2023, JOYFUL announced that Nura would be leaving the group due to career change switch and wanting to pursue studies on Psychology, they also announced that ganagu is preparing for their first 6-members release mini album and are hoping for the fans support to both the group and former member Nura.
On March 28, 2023, JOYFUL revealed that ganagu is making a comeback with their sixth mini album "Parallel Aurora" which would be released on April 20, 2023.
On June 30, 2023, JOYFUL announced that after a long discussion with the member Sumi who's currently active in China with the girl group RAINBOW CANDY, would leave the company due to not promoting with the group for over three years and it was both parts decision. The company stated to support ganagu and Sumi on their future careers as they part ways.
On January 30, 2024, JOYFUL revealed that all current ganagu members would be extending their contracts with the agency and would continue to promote.
On April 26, 2024, JOYFUL announced that ganagu will make their first comeback since past year. The group will release their first single album "Pixel Love" on May 20, 2024. The group went viral with the single album and managed to get 5 Wins during the promotions.
