Carlos Stanly also known by the stage name of GRIMM is an ex-member of the groups SUGAR HIGH! and VXMPIRE. He is currently a soloist under Space Entertainment.
History[]
Carlos was born in New York, USA. He has two sisters and two brothers. He has stated that he does not keep in touch with his parents due to experiencing both physical and verbal abuse as a child. Carlos is currently completing a Masters in Violence Prevention. He is known to be very active as an advocate for preventing domestic violence.
Carlos had only been a trainee for around two weeks when he was chosen to be part of the group SUGAR HIGH! Because the staff thought he fit the concept due to his age and his cute appearance. Throughout his career with SUGAR HIGH! He was fiercely protected by the older members who defended him against malicious fans and abusive company staff.
In 2009 he experienced depression due to the work environment. He still experiences depression now and then and he is very open about his struggles. He believes that the company and his parents are the main reason for his agoraphobia and other anxiety disorders he currently experiences. Staff never took him seriously due to his age and he often experienced verbal abuse since he consistently struggled with choreography and the songs.
He discovered that producing music helped with his anxiety and depressive symptoms and so he starts to create his own music that reflect his internal life.
In 2010 the group disbands. He decides to stay in the company but takes a break from being a trainee. He restarts his training in 2012 after deciding to go on a journey of self discovery.
In 2014 he debuts as a soloist under the stage name of GRIMM. He explained that the character came to existence when SUGAR HIGH! disbanded. He states that GRIMM represents his inner self and thoughts. Ever since the creation of GRIMM he has created a large lore surrounding the character and he is interested in writing books and shows based of that character and other characters that exist in that world.
He joins the second generation of VXMPIRE in 2016 under his real name.
He leaves VXMPIRE in 2019 after the company is closed due to the CEO retiring. He stays as a soloist and tries to become independent but he ends up struggling due to the lack of money and goes into indefinite hiatus in early 2020.
In 2021 he joins Space Entertainment as a soloist and discovers that he ends up experiencing more healthier work life. His mental health improves significantly.
Career[]
SUGAR HIGH! (2008 - 2010)[]
He joins SUGAR HIGH! In 2008 after being one of the seven boys chosen to be part of the group. He wrote six demos for them in which all of them were scrapped by staff stating that his songs did not suit their concept.
In 2010 the group was disbanded by the company due to public disinterest
VXMPIRE (2016 - 2019)[]
In 2016 he joins the group VXMPIRE. He writes four songs for the group. His ideas for music videos were also used in a few of their videos.
In 2017 he goes on hiatus from the group to focus fully on his solo career. He ends up coming out of hiatus in 2018.
The group disbands in 2019 after the CEO retires and shuts the company down
GRIMM (2014 - Present)[]
In 2014 he debuts as a soloist with the mini album Soulless. The concept he followed through his albums was that he is a grim reaper who is living in an apocalyptic world. The lore of this world is intricate and deep and it spans over a one hundred year period which follows this characters life story from human to becoming death themselves. Whilst Carlos uses he/him pronouns he would prefer people used they/them pronouns for GRIMM because he believes that this character does not have attachments to ideas such as gender. He has made sure to create a divide between the character and his real life self.
He announced in 2024 that he was creating a movie which follows the beginning of the lore before GRIMM became the reaper. The name of the film is currently unknown and it is assumed that it will be released in late 2025 or 2026.
On April 14th 2025 it was announced that he will be a Cipher Navigator (Rap Trainer) on the survival show STAR RAIL.
