FISS Entertainment Co., Ltd (피스엔터테인먼트), abbreviation for Faster In Southern Stars is a South Korean entertainment company established in January 10, 1991 by Jung Hae-dong. It is known for managing the popular groups, U.T.Tmoon and DLHT.
History[]
1991-1996: The Beginning, TINKER and YuReNi[]
FISS Entertainment was founded by Jung Hae-dong after he graduated in a music degree. He got aspired by the popular duos and trios around the music industry so he created his first trio, TINKER, consisting his friends. Their first album didn't do well at first but in the second album, they gained popularity.
A teenage soloist, Jeon Kye-hyun was debuted in 1994 and his career didn't do well.
In 1995, the female duo, YuReNi was started in the music industry. The first album reached 400,000 copies and promoted well nationwide.
One member, Yunhee got into a dating scandal with a senior high school student. They became close together and kissed in the public. This is made fans angry and started receiving Yunhee bad threats. This is the cause of separation of YuReNi.
1997-1998: Early success; U.T.Tmoon and DLHT[]
In November 19, 1997, the boy group U.T.Tmoon was debuted. Their debut got a lot of controversies and despite from that, they gained a lot of popularity. In the second album, the group exploded their popularity and reached in Japan.
In August 31, 1998, the girl group DLHT was debuted. The group was considered as the "female version of U.T.Tmoon" because of the similar music style and concepts. They also promote in Japan and released two Japanese singles.
2005-2007: Second generation groups[]
In April 10, 2005, the boy group SOLAR:ist was debuted. This time, the group has less attention to the newer fans but the group was popular outside Korea.
In June 3, 2006, the girl group Milky Way was debuted. The group got some controversies because of the mature concept. Because of the controversy, the group changed to school concept in the second album.
In 2007, the CEO, Jung Hae-dong was caught by gambling and scamming, and got arrested. This time, he was replaced by Lee Ha-youn, a singer and model. The new CEO of FISS Entertainment was finally give a proper management to the artists and freed the trademark rights to the former groups.[1]
Controversies[]
The mistreatment of SOLAR:ist[]
SOLAR:ist has received a lot of mistreatments and improper care since their debut. That time, the members weren't allowed to go outside and attract to their fans online or in-person. During the It's not okay! promotions, Saejeong got injured and still participating although he's recovering. This situation can make fans worried about him and angry to the company for not giving them a proper treatment.
