FIGHTERS is a South Korean girl group that was under COFFEE Entertainment. They debuted on April 12, 2007 with their mini-album WHISPERS. They disbanded on April 14, 2014, after their contracts were done. They became popular due to a system they called The Five Pillars of Being an Idol.

2007: Debut Era, I KNOW YOU Era, First Win[]
On January 15, 2007, COFFEE Entertainment announced that it would be debuting a girl group. In the weeks leading up to FIGHTERS's debut member announcement, the company uploaded videos of their trainees practicing, showing off the potential members.
On February 17, 2007, COFFEE Entertainment began revealing the debut members of FIGHTERS through press conferences. One member was announced per day, with their debut date of April 12 being announced along with the last member, Byulmyung.
On April 12, 2007, FIGHTERS debuted with the mini-album WHISPERS, with the title track of the same name. The concept of the debut was calm, and WHISPERS was a softer song about first love. Fans felt the song was a little boring at first, but it seemed to grow on the general public after a few weeks. FIGHTERS went on a few variety shows for their debut promotions, gaining new fans from those. Yeohyun received a lot of attention for her stable vocals, and COFFEE Entertainment started to push her more in terms of promotions.
On August 25, 2007, FIGHTERS released their first EP I KNOW YOU, with the title track of the same name. The concept was more upbeat than WHISPERS, and gained some attention from the general public. The group got their first win on Mutizen on September 2, 2007. During this era, fans started paying more attention to Byulmyung, who was very popular on variety shows.
2008: LITTLE BIT Era, TRIVIA Era, TOP GIRLS Era[]
On January 14, 2008, FIGHTERS released their second mini-album LITTLE BIT, with the title track JUSTICE. The concept was very EDM, and fans gave good reviews of it.
On February 18, 2008, Yeohyun was announced to be a model for a series of beauty commercials. These commercials gained the group a lot of attention and fans.
On April 12, 2008, FIGHTERS held their first anniversary concert.
On April 23, 2008, FIGHTERS released their first single album TRIVIA, with the title track AROMA. The concept was a lot more cute than JUSTICE, but fans enjoyed it.
On October 18, 2008, FIGHTERS released their third mini-album TOP GIRLS, with the title track SHOES. The concept was empowering and had themes of girl power, so many female fans enjoyed the song.
2009: First Concert, A Lot of Popularity, WATER Era, TOWER Era[]
On January 18, 2009, FIGHTERS held their first concert titled FIGHTERS FIRST CONCERT: WHISPERS.
On April 12, 2009, during their second anniversary concert, the girls announced their system they called The Five Pillars of Being an Idol. They released a video after the concert explaining what the system was, and why the girls came up with it. Fans thought the concept was interesting, and it went viral. The girls were invited to variety shows to talk about it, and they gained a lot of popularity.
On August 23, 2009, FIGHTERS released their first studio album WATER, with the title track SUMMER CAKE. The concept was fun and cute, and fans enjoyed it.
On November 26, 2009, FIGHTERS released their second single album TOWER, with the title track IN. The concept was EDM and powerful, and the general public liked it a lot.
2010: GREEN TEA Era, Second Concert, LOVE Era, First Concert Tour[]
On May 14, 2010, FIGHTERS released their first EP GREEN TEA, with the title track CAFE. The concept was soft and cute, and the general public enjoyed it a lot.
On July 5, 2010, FIGHTERS held their second concert titled FIGHTERS SECOND CONCERT: WATER.
On August 31, 2010, FIGHTERS released their fourth mini-album LOVE, with the title track LOVE DANCE. The concept was fun and powerful, and became popular to cover among fans.
From November 2, 2010 to November 30, 2010, FIGHTERS held their first concert tour titled FIGHTERS FIRST CONCERT TOUR: FIVE PILLARS.
2011: ALL NIGHT Era, FIGHTERS Second Concert Tour, SHINE Era[]
On February 15, 2011, FIGHTERS released their fifth mini-album ALL NIGHT, with the title track of the same night. The concept was fun and powerful, and it became very popular with the general public.
From May 17, 2011 to May 31, 2011, FIGHTERS held their second concert tour titled FIGHTER SECOND CONCERT TOUR: LOVE.
On October 15, 2011, FIGHTERS released their second single album SHINE, with the title track I'm Not Clusmy. The concept was cute and upbeat, and fans enjoyed it.
2012: SPICY Era, FLAME Era[]
On April 18, 2012, FIGHTERS released their second full album SPICY, with the title track of the same name. The concept was fun and energetic, and the general public enjoyed it a lot.
On September 16, 2012, FIGHTERS released their first repackage album FLAME, with the title track GORGEOUS. The concept was mature and fun, and fans liked it.
2013: DAZZLE Era, Fan Competition, Third Concert, DRESS Era[]
On February 20, 2013, FIGHTERS released their sixth mini-album DAZZLE, with the title track LACE. The concept was soft and sophisticated, and the general public enjoyed it.
On April 16, 2013, FIGHTERS held a competitions for their fans that consisted of a dance contest, a vocal contest, and a rap contest. The winner won a signed copy of DAZZLE and got to meet the girls.
On May 12, 2013, FIGHTERS held their third concert titled FIGHTERS THIRD CONCERT: ALL NIGHT.
On October 24, 2013, FIGHTERS released their seventh mini-album DRESS, with the title track FRILL. The concept was soft and elegant, and the general public liked it.
2014: Disbandment Announcement, First World Tour, OUR PATH Era, Disbandment Concert, Disbandment[]
On January 1, 2014, FIGHTERS announced that they would be disbanding on April 14, 2014 with a disbandment concert. Only Yeohyun had resigned with their company, as the other girls wanted to try new things.
From February 5, 2014 to February 24, 2014, FIGHTERS held their first world tour titled FIGHTERS FIRST WORLD TOUR: TRAVEL THE WORLD.
On April 11, 2014, FIGHTERS released their eigth mini-album OUR PATH, with the title track FIGHT. The concept was fun and upbeat, and fans enjoyed it.
On April 14, 2014, FIGHTERS held their disbandment concert titled FIGHTERS DISBANDMENT CONCERT: OUR PATH.
On April 14, 2014, FIGHTERS disbanded.
The Five Pillars of Being an Idol[]
The members decided to make a system that included the five things they felt were important to being an idol. They called this system The Five Pillars of Being an Idol. Yeohyun stated that the five pillars were not made as steps to make the group more popular, but to make the group become the best group that they could be. The concept of the five pillars became quite popular among other idols, and helped boost FIGHTERS's popularity. It became a defining trait of the group.
The five pillars are flexibility, consistency, connectivity, creativity, and quality. Flexibility is the ability to adapt to situations. An idol needs to be prepared to break out of their comfort zone and try new things. Consistency is the ability to always be counted on. An idol must set a standard for themselves, and never go below it. Connectivity is the ability to become familiar with fans. An idol must be able to understand their fans and be willing to listen to them. Creativity is the ability to make new things. An idol must be able to contribute to their art. Quality is the ability to always give the best possible. An idol should have the basics of their art and should be able to push the limits of their art.
