Eros (에로스; sometimes stylised as EROS or eros) is an 9-member boy group under Olympic Records. They debuted on April 8, 2012 as a twelve-membered piece with the EP NUHISTORY.
History[]
Pre-Debut[]
In January 2012, member Jaebyun was introduced as an introductory member to DEMIGXDS, the company's pre-debut trainee team. In May 2012, member Quinn was introduced as a member. Members Boyeon, Apollo and Kikiza were introduced as members in January 2013 alongside trainee Qiang Fenhua.
In March 2013, Olympic Records announced the debut of their new boy group in the final quarter of the year. The boy group was said to be called Pantheon and consist of twelve members; DEMIGXDS Jaebyun, Quinn, Boyeon, Apollo, Kikiza and Fenhua were stated as being part of the line-up alongside six unrevealed trainees. By June 2013, two of the unrevealed members had left the company and were not replaced, leaving the debuting number of members at ten.
In July 2013, Olympic Records trademarked the name EROS, leading many to believe that the company had strayed from the initial concept of the boy group following the departure of pre-debut members.
On August 23, 2013, members Quinn and Kikiza were teased as the first members of Eros. Their teaser images were posted on various social media sites. On August 30, members Jaebyun and Sayong were teased as the next members, their teasers being released in a similar fashion. On September 6, members Fenhua and Apollo's teasers were released. On September 13, members Inkyu and Yusoo were confirmed as the next members of Eros. On September 20, members Hyogon and Boyeon were revealed as the final members of the line-up.
Starting from the September 22, official promotional material of Eros featured nine members, excluding member Fenhua. Budding fans of Eros and fans of existing Olympic Records' groups became suspicious and the question of where Fenhua was consumed the K-Pop community for a few days. On September 26, 2013, Olympic Records stated that member Fenhua had been released from his contract with the company following the breach of various clauses. In the same statement, they confirmed that the group had re-filmed the choreography shots and would be continuing as a nine-member piece. A short lived campaign to reinstate Fenhua existed before disbanding after being threatened with legal action.

2020: Hyogon's Departure, Hiatus, Members' Military Service[]
On July 28th, Dispatch reported that the contracts of the Eros members were coming to a close and that talks had been ongoing between the members and the company for a number of months. It was reported that, at the time of the article's publication, five out of the nine members had resigned with Olympic Records. Fuelled by cryptic statements from Dispatch on those who likely won't resign shocking everyone, stans of Eros engaged in conversations and arguments over who hadn't resigned, leading the topic to trend on Twitter for a couple of days.
On August 2nd, Olympic Records confirmed that contract renewal talks were taking place and that members Quinn, Boyeon, Kikiza, Yusoo and Apollo had resigned. On August 9th, it was confirmed that member Sayong had resigned with the company and on August 14th, members Jaebyun and Inkyu had resigned.
On August 27th, it was first reported that member Hyogon was inquiring about other companies, something that was absent within his groupmates' renewal talks with the company. On August 29th, Dispatch released messages sent from Hyogon to friends that suggested a displeasure with the route Eros' music took and how his credentials in the underground rapping community had decreased due to this. On August 30th, various other news outlets published messages that indicated rifts between Hyogon and the Eros members, notably Quinn and Apollo. On September 4th at a university performance, Hyogon was notably shunned during his parts of the performance. On September 10th, Olympic Records confirmed that Hyogon would not be resigning with the company upon the expiration of his contract on September 27th and that he had chosen not to remain as a member of Eros. On 27th September, the group's seventh anniversary, Hyogon left the group.
On October 5th, Olympic Records announced that members Jaebyun, Boyeon and Inkyu would enlist in their mandatory military service. In the same statement, it was announced that Eros would undertake a hiatus until the members returned.
2021: Eros-M Sub-Unit Debut[]
On May 18th, it was announced that members Kikiza, Sayong, Yusoo and Apollo would be debuting in a new sub-unit.
