DURENDAL (두렌달) is a seven-member boy group under Phantasma Records. Formed from the survival show Tidal Boys, they made their debut on November 2, 2023, with the mini album The Dreamers - Lover in Toxicity.
The group originally consisted of the 7 winners, however due to a rigging scandal, the group's debut was cancelled. However, 2 months after the announcement, it was reported DURENDAL would join start-up company Phantasma Records and would debut with a re-organized lineup.
History[]
Pre-debut[]
On February 3, 2023, the survival show Tidal Boys aired. On the final, the final lineup was revealed to consist of 1st place winner and center Sakurai Ryuji, followed by Kang Hayeon, Han Sechan, Park Namgyu, and Moon Soobin. It was then revealed the group would add 2 members due to public demand, the 2 members were revealed to be Lee Hyunsu and Watanabe Mashiho.
A month after the finale, it was reported Tidal Boys' final lineup was rigged, as netizens had detected sudden changes in rankings that seemed "highly unusual" and the amount of votes changing from a number like 120k to 230k. It was then revealed that members Moon Soobin and Sakurai Ryuji were rigged into the final lineup, as they had initially been eliminated. The selected members were supposedly the 2 members that were supposed to debut with the group from votes.
Ivory Entertainment Group suffered a heap of backlash and threats of people burning down their building. The official producer of Tidal Boys, Kang Seokcheol, was arrested and sentenced to 5 years in prison for charges of fraud and tax evasion. In late May, the company announced that the group would officially not make their debut due to the scandal.
2023: Re-organization, debut with The Dreamers - Lover in Toxicity.[]
On July 27, it was suddenly reported that DURENDAL would re-organize with 6 new members and would be moving to start-up company Phantasmal Records in order to prepare for a November debut. On August 18, Han Sechan, originally a member of the previous lineup, was revealed as the first member, followed by Huang Boqin on August 19, Yoon Sanga on August 20, Seomun Seunggyun on August 21, Lee Chihyeong on August 22, Xiang Jianjun on August 23, and finally Uchiyama Ryusei on August 24.
On November 2, it was reported that the group will make their debut on November 27 with the mini album The Dreamers - Lover in Toxicity.
2024: Glee, departures of Han Sechan and Seomun Seunggyun[]
On June 10, a teaser was released on DURENDAL's social media pages, announcing that the group will release their first studio album Glee on June 20.
On December 28, 2024, Phantasma Records announced that Han Sechan and Seomun Seunggyun will be leaving DURENDAL as Han Sechan wished to pursue a solo career and Seomun Seunggyun wished to focus on studies. Additionally, Phantasma Records announced that the group's upcoming comeback in February of 2025 would be postponed to April of 2025 in order to re-organize and add new members who are set to be announced in January of 2025.
2025-present: Additions of Gong Songwon and Yoon Juyul, Creeping[]
On January 10, 2025, Phantasma Records announced that Yoon Juyul and Gong Songwon were added to the group.
On March 23, 2025, the group announced their second mini album, Creeping, set to be released on April 3, 2025.
