DNG (디엔지, also known as Dynamic New Girls), is an unlimited member girl group under DNG Label, a label under Highline Media. Originally as nine members, they debuted on January 9, 2023, with the mini album NEXT TO ME.
Concept & name[]
Name[]
The name is a backronym for "Dynamic New Girls", with the group wishing to constantly show new and dynamic concepts every release.
Concept[]
The group is an unlimited-member girl group. Each month, 1-5 members are added. Furthermore, the group mainly promotes in the rotational sub-unit DNG 893, where company-decided lineups promote for a certain amount of time before being switched out for a new lineup. A member is not allowed to be in the unit if said member had already participated in a release.
When a new member is added, they are automatically assigned an "ID". The ID consists of the member's initials, their number, and the year they had joined.
Every 1-2 months, a new sub-unit is introduced. Currently, there are 4 sub-units (DNG 893, DNG J, DNG K, and DNG OG).
History[]
Predebut[]
Prior to the groups reveal, members Yoojoo and Shinhye were both models.
On March 8, 2019, PY Studios announced a new group named DNG. The same day, all social media accounts for the group were opened.
On May 9, after supposedly no updates about the group, a cover was posted with 9 members. In the description, the members were revealed: Jihyeong, Yoojoo, Kwon Kyung, Shinhye, Eunyoo, Sunyoo, Yuujin, Jinyoung, and Minyeong.
On July 7, a teaser was released of a pre-debut mini-album titled truth about love. The album was eventually released on July 14. Right after the release, members Eunyoo and Sunyoo departed from the group, citing "differences in the groups path".
In 2020, member Yuujin did not appear in their covers. This lead to speculation that the member had departed from the group. Soon after, PY Studios revealed that Yuujin had left the group. On the same day, they introduced 2 new members: Rahyun and Jina. They also revealed the group is currently seeking a final member through auditions.
A member identified as Jane performed with the group sometime in 2021, however, she left soon after.
On December 1, 2022, Jeongeun was announced as the final member. PY Studios announced soon after that the group is set to debut in early 2023.
2023-2025: Debut with NEXT TO ME, re-organization, sub-units, member changes, hiatus[]
On December 29, a teaser revealing their debut mini album NEXT TO ME was released. It was also revealed that they would make their long-awaited debut on January 9, 2023. The album was released on the aforementioned date, with "WDD" serving as the album's title track.
On January 14, it was announced that the group would reorganize into an unlimited member girl group, where every year, the group will release a digital while constantly adding new members each month. 2 new sub-units (DNG 893 and DNG OG), as well as new members Huiju, Kang Yeop, J-Yeon, Sooyoon, and Eunhye joining the group, were announced. The next day, the 5 newest members were announced as new members of DNG 893.
On February 1, new members Seoha, Minmi, Yunsoo, Hyeryun, Giyeon, and Jandi were announced as new members.
On March 1, 5 new members: Seonha, Yoobin, Ibyeol, Yumeji, and Miho, were announced as new members. In the same announcement, it was announced DNG 893 would make their first comeback on April 10 with members Jihyeong, Kwon Kyung, Yunsoo, Rahyun, Giyeon, and Jandi, as well as regional sub-units DNG K and DNG J, where each unit will consist of exclusively Korean and Japanese members respectively.
On April 1, 2023, Highline Media announced that DNG will be going on a 2-year hiatus as the company wished to finalize organization plans for DNG. Highline Media added that during the hiatus, members may be able to participate in solo activities until plans are finalized.
During the hiatus:
- Rahyun competed on INFINITEEZ: The Reverse Project. Unfortunately, she was eliminated later on.
- J-Yeon temporarily returned to NineQ as the group was participating on STAR.FRESH.
- Kang Yeop resumed soloist activities.
- Yoojoo, Shinhye, Yunsoo, Ibyeol, and Sooyoon worked as models.
- Hyeryun and Minmi focused on acting.
- Seoha, Jinyoung, and Minyeong released solo material.
2025-present: End of hiatus, lineup changes, units[]
On February 2, 2025, Highline Media announced that plans of the group had been finalized, and the group will start promoting again soon. On the same day, they announced that DNG, along with creative director Hwang Yeon-hee, established DNG Label as a way to manage their activities.
On March 1, 2025, via their monthly adding system, Yurin, Momoe, and Kiyomi were introduced as new members, followed by Sunhwi, Mitsuru, Nara, Chiyoko, and Injeong on April 1, 2025. On the same day, following the additions of the 5 aforementioned, DNG announced 2 new sub-units: DNG Varsity and DNG Graceful. DNG Varsity will focus on a hip-hop and teen crush concept while DNG Graceful will focus on an elegant and majestic concept.
On May 1, 2025, the monthly adding system resumed with Rika, Mari, Yein, and Love introduced as new members, followed by Sellin on June 1, 2025.

DNG 893[]
Announced on January 15, 2023, following the reorganization of DNG, DNG 893 serves as the primary rotational unit of the group. Lineups are chosen by the agency prior to an album release. All of their releases begin with the phrase DNG 893 chapter. They released their first studio album DNG 893 chapter 1 : the mission on January 30, 2023, featuring Eunhye, J-Yeon, Kang Yeop, Sooyoon, and Huiju.
DNG OG[]
Announced on January 15, 2023, following the reorganization of DNG, DNG OG serves as the unit containing all members prior to the reorganization (Jihyeong, Yoojoo, Kwon Kyung, Rahyun, Jeongeun, Jina, Shinhye, Jinyoung, Minyeong). They debuted on June 12, 2025, with their first studio album Beyond the Greatness.
DNG K[]
Announced on March 1, 2023, DNG K is the unit consisting of the Korean members of DNG. With the lineup consisting of Yoojoo, Hyeryun, Jinyoung, and Seonha, they released their debut mini album Volume 1 on April 26, 2025.
DNG J[]
Announced on March 1, 2023, DNG J is the unit consisting of the Japanese members of DNG. Their debut date has yet to be announced.
DNG Varsity[]
Announced on April 1, 2025, DNG Varsity, consisting of Jihyeong, J-Yeon, Kwon Kyung, Yunsoo, Jeongeun, Jina, and Huiju, serves as the hip-hop unit of the group. Their debut date has yet to be announced.
DNG Graceful[]
Announced on April 1, 2025, DNG Graceful, consisting of Yoojoo, Eunhye, Chiyoko, Nara, Yurin, and Injeong, the unit serves as the ethereal unit of the group. Their debut date has yet to be announced.
