DKDK (두근두근) is a South Korean girl group under LoveRail Entertainment. They debuted originally with six members on April 25, 2020, with the mini album Sweet DKDK. DKDK had a generational system, in which members leave and join regularly. They abolished the concept after leaving YW Entertainment.
Career[]
2020: Debut, 1st generation[]
On April 25, 2020, DKDK debuted with the mini album Sweet DKDK with the members Star, Hyejin, Chuntao, Soomin, Aurora and Woolim.
2021: 2nd generation, Cherry solo debut, Cherry departure, hiatus[]
On January 30, 2021, all of the 1st generation members left the group due to disagreements with the company, being replaced by new members Asuna, Mini, Cherry, and Lena on the same day. They had their first comeback with the digital single "New Sugar" on March 30, 2021.
Cherry made her solo debut with the digital single 'XOXO,' on June 12, 2021.
On July 30, 2021, after disagreements with the company, Cherry sued YW Entertainment and left the group. After Cherry's departure, DKDK went into a temporary hiatus.
2022: 3rd generation, 2nd hiatus, 4th generation[]
On January 4, 2022, the remaining members of DKDK, Asuna, Mini and Lena left the group.
On January 5, YW Entertainment announced the new lineup, including Meixiu, Lin, Malee, and Jinhee. This lineup would focus on Japan promotions and be more of a J-Pop group despite having no Japanese members.
On February 1, 2022, DKDK debuted in Japan with the mini album See Me, Magic! and "Bibidibabidiboo!" as the album title track.
In March of 2022, the group's promotions were cut short due to COVID-19 restrictions, causing all of the members to return to their home countries. Shortly after, on March 30, YW Entertainment announced that DKDK would be on a temporary hiatus.
it was assumed the group had silently disbanded due to their socials not being updated for over months, all members being in their home countries, and not mentioning the group anymore on their personal social accounts, but no official announcement was ever made.
After months of silence, on August 7, 2022, the group's official socials suddenly posted a teaser. Over the next 5 days, the new members, Katy, Zhiying, Koko, Jiang Shen and Jiang Chen were announced, however, there was no statement on the status of the 3rd generation members.
On August 27, 2022, YW Entertainment released a teaser photo for DKDK's comeback. They went on to announce the group would be coming back with a mini album. After days of releasing concept photos and other teasers, on September 7, DKDK came back with their second mini album COLORPOLIS.
On October 23, 2022, Dispatch posted about Zhiying dating VERRI's Taeyang. Due to the amount of threats she received and the amount of protests outside the company building, she left the group on July 30.
On November 20, Katy, Koko, Jiang Shen and Jiang Chen all left the group. Malee and Jinhee were also assumed to have left as they were removed from YW Entertainment's official website.
2023: 5th generation, BUNGEE[]
Fans assumed that the group had disbanded, but on September 21, 2023, 3rd generation members Meixiu and Lin announced their return to DKDK. Along with the return of the two more senior members, it was announced new members Ylva, Bambi, Kitty, Yanling and Kiku would be joining Meixiu and Lin to form a 7-member lineup.
On October 17, they had their comeback with the mini album BUNGEE.
2024: Kitty and Meixiu hiatus, addition of Evalina, Jiana, and Haeun, WORLD CLASS[]
On February 22, YW Entertainment announced that Kitty would be officially taking a hiatus as she is debuting in DANGL1NG5.
On April 15, YW Entertainment announced that Meixiu would also be taking a hiatus to focus on her health.
On April 23, YW Entertainment announced that DKDK would be adding 3 new members to the team; Evalina, Jiana and Haeun. In the statement, YW also confirmed that DKDK is preparing to make their comeback.
On June 18, they made their official comeback with their 4th mini album titled Super DKDK with "Superwoman" serving as the title track.
On August 18, it was announced that members Evalina, Jiana, and Haeun would be taking time off of group activities to participate in HKRT's survival idol program, WORLD CLASS. Along with that, Meixiu was announced to be returning from her hiatus.
Evalina, Jiana, and Haeun returned to group activities on November 20, 2024.
2025: Leaving YW, Joining LoveRail Entertainment, Lineup changes[]
On February 19, 2025, it was announced that members Zhang Meixiu, Wan Lin, Yoon Haeun, Ylva Åsebo Kim, Ji Ana, and Evalina Alamilla have filed a lawsuit against YW Entertainment seeking to terminate their exclusive contracts. The members allege that the company failed to uphold contractual obligations and subjected them to child neglect, labor exploitation, and poor working conditions.
On April 22, 2025, DKDK members won their lawsuit against YW Entertainment and left the company after terminating their exclusive contracts. The court sided with the members following claims of child neglect, labor exploitation, and poor working conditions.
The members who did not sue—Kitty, Kiku, Bambi, and Yanling—left DKDK as they continued under YW Entertainment individually. The current six joined LoveRail Entertainment, home to former member KATY.
On June 3, 2025, LoveRail Entertainment CEO Katy announced that DKDK would soon be making their first official comeback under LoveRail. She went on to reveal that the group would be adding six additional members, turning it into a twelve-member group. She stated that they would be revealing members one by one in the following days, and to the surprise of many viewers, Katy revealed that the first new member would be herself. The second new member was revealed to be Lilya. The third new member was revealed to be Aerin. The fourth new member was revealed to be Ayeon. The fifth new member was revealed to be Suhae. And the final new member was revealed to be Rosemary.
