DEC (데크), also known by his birth name Do Euichan (도의찬), is a South Korean soloist, producer, singer-songwriter, and choreographer under LOTUSBASE. He debuted on June 20th, 2024, with his first mini album MY STAGE.
He serves as the founder and CEO for LOTUSBASE, and the creative director and A&R for ODYSSEIA.
𑁍 Early Life[]
2001-2011: Childhood[]
Born in Gwangju as Do Euichan to a mother and father as an only child, Euichan lived a mostly peaceful childhood. Although his mother left the family for undisclosed reasons, his life was kept safe and peaceful with his supportive father beside him. Euichan struggled communicating with other kids, causing him to only have a few friends. Regardless, he didn't have any problems or grudges towards anyone and was always nice to other kids. Euichan also had a creative, artistic mind, always thinking and imagining ideas, causing him to constantly daydream during class. He loved to draw and write random stories.
At the age of 7, He started gaining interest in K-pop idols and performing on stage. This interest was sparked by watching a music show out of boredom. He became a fan of the boy group having their debut stage on TV. He found his dream job: a K-pop idol.
Everyday after school, he would always go in his room and sing along to songs or try to dance by watching tutorials, mostly in a quiet secretive manner as he didn't want his dad seeing him. Though his efforts were pointless as his dad already knew what he would do in his room.
In the early spring season of 2011, one night Euichan was called to the dining table by his dad. He showed him a video about a company holding auditions and asked if he wanted to try. Despite being shocked about his dad somehow knowing that he wanted to be an idol, he immediately said yes.
After months of preparation and passing rounds, Euichan passed all rounds and was accepted as a trainee at the company he auditioned for, which was SM Entertainment. This was the start of his trainee life.
2011-2018: Trainee Life[]
Being young and not having much experience, with also his struggle to communicate with others, Euichan's first few months as a SM trainee were a tough period for him. But he had reliable trainees and friends who helped him. One of them was a 15 year old boy, (which we will refer to "JH") who had been training for 4 years. He was always the one who helped him through struggles, such as listening to his concerns, teaching him how to dance, etc.
After 3 years of training, "JH" had made the decision to leave the company. This made Euichan extremely upset as he didn't want to see the person who he relied on a lot leaving his side. But "JH" told him that even though he physically may not be by his side, he should know that he's supporting him even if he's far away and told him that it's time for him to try growing up by himself. Euichan, although still being upset, took his word and promised he'll debut. This was the last time he saw "JH" and has no idea what he is up to now.
Euichan wasn't used to the environment without "JH" and took effect on his motivation, but soon regained it back with the help of his trainee friends. He continued to work hard towards his dream, while also focusing on his studies.
In the fall season of 2018, he was let go by SM as they thought he didn't meet the debut standards despite 7 years of training. Although he was heartbroken, he told to himself that one day he'll find the right path. So he said goodbye to his remaining trainee friends and peacefully ended his journey as a trainee.
2018-2022: New Beginnings[]
After being let go, Euichan decided to audition for another company. Even though he passed the first round, he failed to pass the second. Being frustrated and not knowing what to do anymore, he suddenly had the idea of making music come up in his mind. His supportive father even approved the idea.
He started his soundcloud account under his real name in mid-January 2019 and started his newfound hobby (or, career) of making music, along with releasing covers. He started experimenting with his little music-making app on his iPad, starting with simple things such as making instrumental songs with no singing. He gradually moved onto the next step, experimenting different genres, started writing lyrics, and including his own vocals in his own songs. He continued to experiment and release music while focusing on his studies.
Euichan graduated from high school in February 2020 and entered military service after. He was discharged on December 18th of 2021 after serving 20 months and 3 weeks of military service. He started working as a weekly tutor at a hagwon in January 2022.
2023: Drawing a Pathway[]
In early 2023, Euichan started thinking of starting his own company where he can release music and perhaps even start his own solo career or producing a group. He even already had a concept in mind. With the help of his father and some old friends, he started preparations to establish his own company.
In February of 2023, He decided to quit his job as a hagwon tutor to focus on his preparations. Although his the students were deeply saddened by his departure, he mentioned that they may see him again in the future, and told them to "draw your own path to the future", inspired by what "JH" told him when he decided to leave the company during his trainee days. He said his goodbyes to the students and his co-workers, and left the hagwon, ending his journey as a tutor after 14 months.
He found and contacted Aso Group, which assisted him in establishing his company. He named it "LOTUSBASE", with the wish that its artists and trainees under it will shine as a lotus, through the darkness and hardships within the murky waters.
LOTUSBASE was finally established on September 9th, 2023. Euichan decided to stay quiet after the establishment and prepare for his plans next year, while producing songs for other artists in the industry.
2024: The Dawn of His Third Journey[]
Euichan was finally ready and started going into preparations. He started experimenting and seeing what type of songs would fit him, producing and recording songs, planning out stuff such as the cost, concepts, and lore, discussing with other people who decided to work with him, having a lot of stuff on his hands since the year started.
Although being in constant stress and having too much ideas to the point he would overthink, he was trying his best to produce and release a good quality album and concept that represents himself. He did his best to stay positive for his future.
And finally, it was the day of his reveal to the public. Knowing he would get reactions from the internet full of people from around the world, he was excited and anxious at the same time.
It was finally the time he entered the spotlight.
𑁍 Career[]
2024: Reveal and debut with "MY STAGE"[]
On March 17th, he was revealed as LOTUSBASE's first artist with the stage name "DEC".
In an interview with news website QUACKTIMES, he revealed that he would be debuting as solo in the second quarter of 2024, along with the plans of producing a group.

On April, It was revealed that DEC will be in the comedy web series CAMP, playing a lead/minor role. He was also selected as the singer for the show's closing theme "Wilderness".
On May, DEC was chosen to be featured as the soloist on the May 2024 issue covers for the TrueTrial BEAUTY CAMPAIGN's WONDACE Magazine.
On June 10th, through a prologue film that was released on 9PM, it was revealed that DEC would be debuting on the 20th, with his first and debut mini album "MY STAGE", with the title being "Your Rockstar".
On June 28th, DEC gained his first music show win on Smile Groove Music Show with "Your Rockstar".
Around July-August, DEC was revealed to be featuring on soloist and former Solviz member Beomjun's debut single "I’m Your Boy?". The single was later released on August 26th.
Around August, it was announced that DEC would be performing on the fourth day of K-Paradise Seoul & You held on September 23rd. He performed on the main stage, starting a cover of Siwoo's "Wait", followed by "Sweet Cotton Candy", then "my youth (나의 청춘)", ending with "Your Rockstar".

On October 10th, DEC served as the MC for JΣПΣЯΛƬIӨП's 4th anniversary concert.
On November 1st, DEC received 6 nominations for the 2024 Hangang Artistry Awards, those being Creator of the Year, "Your Rockstar" for Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Best K-pop Solo Recording, "Your Rockstar" for Best Music Video, and Cherry Atlantic's Destroy the Forest[n 1] for Best Album Production.[n 2]
On November 26th, it was announced that DEC, along with his bestie and producer Xeno, and fellow LOTUSBASE artists Cho Sungho, Jjanghoney, and Yang Taepoong, would be set to release a special winter collaboration single "For A Happy Winter" on December 6th.
On December 1st, DEC attended the 2024 Hangang Artistry Awards along with his group ODYSSEIA. He, along with iconic 6-member boy band Awkward Boy Syndrome went on stage for a collab, performing hit songs "Midnight Escapism" and "Your Rockstar". It was later announced that he had won Creator of the Year and "Your Rockstar" for Song of the Year.
On December 14th, DEC won the Rookie Vocal Performance of the Year award with "Your Rockstar" at the 2024 Shining Groove Awards.
On December 27th, DEC won the Best New Male Soloist award and "Your Rockstar" for Worldwide Listener's Choice award at the 10th Seoul Music Performance Awards.
2025: First comeback with "SIN"[]
On January 3rd, it was announced that DEC would be featuring in Kuin's english single It's Just Us, which serves as a pre-release to her studio album Hell on Heels. The single was later released on January 17th.
On January 10th, 0:00AM KST, it was announced that DEC would be having his first comeback on the 20th with the mini album "SIN", through his official Twitter account.

- His stage name "DEC" is simply the initials of his birth name.
- When thinking of a stage name, he couldn't think of anything else so he just went with the initials of his birth name.
- Despite his name being also the first three letters of the joyous month of December, He was not born in December.
- He was a trainee at SM Entertainment for 7 years.
- He was trained as a dancer and vocalist.
- He is most confident in dance, but that doesn't mean he isn't confident in vocals.
- He also has decent rap skills, therefore his fans call him an allrounder.
- He currently lives with Xeno, a fellow producer and best friend who trained with him in SM.
- One of his role models and inspiration is Xavier Luna.
- He can speak English at a conversational level.
- He is currently learning Japanese.
- He is currently learning guitar as he doesn't want to be limited to just using a music making software and a MIDI grid controller.

- Originally, i don't think i had any plans of creating him, but due to a little desire i had, he was made in a rush with a bit of help from a friend.
- Just like how he couldn't think of anything else for his stage name, I also couldn't think of anything else for his stage name. 😭
- The other choices for his voiceclaim was Jungwoo & Renjun from NCT.
- His first potential faceclaim was Rivr from NOMAD, but due to lack of content, i went with Taehyun from TXT.
