Clover (Korean: 클로버; Japanese: クローバー) is a Korean-Canadian singer-songwriter and rapper under JYP Entertainment. She is a member of the co-ed group Stray Kids.
Early life[]
Clover was born on May 17, 2000 in Calgary Canada to a Korean mother and Canadian father. As a child, she attended Crescent Heights High School with a focus in dance and grew up with two twin older brothers, Dustin & Quentin.
In 2014, she passed a local audition for JYP, hoping she could become a backup dancer for Wonder Girls or Miss A, both groups that she was a big fan of at the time. She flew out to South Korea that same year and trained for four years under JYP Entertainment.
Career[]
2015-2017: Predebut[]
Clover joined JYP Entertainment in 2014 after passing an audition in Canada. She moved to South Korea the same year and became a trainee for three years.
While she originally planned on becoming a backup dancer, Clover was praised for her singing ability after being overheard by Jeongyeon from Twice in the girl’s bathroom, inspiring her to train in singing as well.
She appeared in the Mnet reality show Stray Kids in 2017 as a project group alongside the boy group that would eventually be named Stray Kids.
Despite being a part of the female team, Clover was added to the Stray Kids lineup in episode 2. She was introduced with the roles of “Dance” and “Vocal”.
During the show, she was eliminated in episode 8 because of JYP’s concern for her being the only girl in the group, but she was brought back on the final episode on December 19, 2017. It was then confirmed that Clover would debut with the coed group Stray Kids.
2018-present: Stray Kids[]
On March 25, 2018, Clover debuted with the mini album I am NOT as a main vocalist and sub-rapper of Stray Kids.
On October 31, 2019 she released a dance performance she choreographed on “bury a friend” by Billie Eilish, as part of the SKZ-PLAYER series.
On April 19, 2021 she released the self-composed song “Pied Piper” as part of the SKZ-PLAYER series.
On April 19, 2022, she released the self-composed song “Anniversary” as part of the SKZ-RECORD series.
On December 21 2022, Clover participated in writing and composing her original solo song “Creamsicle” for the best album SKZ-REPLAY.
On April 19, 2023 she released the self-composed song “Day DREAM” as part of the SKZ-RECORD series.
