Chun Miyeon (천미연) is a South Korean music critic, songwriter, and internet personality. First emerging as a former columnist for MBS Cultured, is best known for running the YouTube music review channel Chunundrum, as well as the online column 1-Hit Wonders.

EARLY LIFE[]

Chun Miyeon was born in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea on April 15, 1991. She is the youngest of three siblings, with both of her older sisters also working in the broadcasting and entertainment industry. During her childhood years, she and her family lived in Darwin, Australia for three years, where she fell in love with music after her mother gifted her a copy of Sinéad O'Connor's 1990 studio album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got, and soon became a music enthusiast, listening to both mainstream and alternative musicians. "I developed that pretentious I'm-not-like-the-basic-girls phase like many other kids when I listened to an indie rock band for the first time, but I soon figured out it was cooler to have a crazy range when it comes to listening habits." She describes the likes of Fiona Apple and Lady Gaga as some of her favorite artists.

Career[]

Miyeon launched her personal YouTube channel Chunundrum in late 2018, where she discusses music songwriting and production, as well as reviews albums by both international and Korean artists. She has over 650,000 subscribers as of January 2025.

Personal life[]

During an online blog post about navigating her sexuality as a Korean teenager, Miyeon hinted at being bisexual in 2018. She married a non-celebrity husband in 2021, and they decided to adopt a child in 2023. They currently live in Jeju Island, and she continues to write her personal columns as well as several articles for publications affiliated with MBS.

The Fever Realm Solviz ★★★★ The project boy band breaks past the wave of 4th generation boy groups with generic dark concepts and ear-granting chant choruses through a pleasant R&B single that showcases their poetic lyricism and diverse vocal colors.
Troublesome! Yong Hwa ★★★1/2 In her best work yet, the rising soloist takes you to a world of pink bubblegum pop with a tinge of rebelliousness.

2023[]

Leather Sprinter Diavolo & Solviz 1/2 Six-member boy band Solviz takes a respectable step into new territory by collaborating with viral hip-hop artist for a new catchy EDM and rap single, though the result ends up contesting to be included next in the list of annoying TikTok hits that will age poorly
Heartborne Yoon Jihan ★★1/2 Yoon Jihan offers promising unique worldbuilding to its listeners, but its musical content otherwise offers sanitized, generic pop that doesn't live up to its conceptual direction.
Xavier Live! Xavier Luna ★★★★1/2

2024[]

SNOB! Lady Ruby, Shin Wooseong, Takamura Sukima ★★1/2 The multi-generational trio brings a forgotten 1990s song back into the conversation, but ultimately falls short of being an outstanding collaboration
Say Yul Love Me Han Yul ★★★ The male idol takes the correct direction of establishing a unified sound despite the evidently impersonal collection of love songs in his first album.
Ocean Blues Yong Hwa ★★★★ The singer-songwriter of 10 years proves the wait was worth it with her first full-length record's cohesive production and detail-packed confessional lyricism.
Couldn't Tell You Nae Sieun ★★★ Nae Sieun perfectly evokes the image of a 2000s pop star with his debut single, though fails to establish his charms as an individual.
Radical Voyagers H6bble ★★★1/2 H6bble may be facing a potential epilogue to their commercially fruitful journey, but the nonet refuses to wrap it up without sharing their most futuristic and daring record to date.

2025d[]

Don't Wake The Eternal Yearner Won Heeun ★★★
Not Trying To Pander Jeon Miyoung ★★★1/2
Minjun and Charlie Presents... Horrid Salmon! Jeon Miyoung ★★★ Minjun's seasoned, genuine artistry and Charlie's youthful pop star energy converge in a conceptually compelling but slightly uneven folk pop record.
