Cherry Atlantic (체리 애틀랜틱; cheli aeteullaentig) is an 10-member (originally 8) Multinational South Korean-based girl group under Fashion Enterprises Entertainment. They debuted on June 19, 2023 with their EP My Ocean & Candy.
They are known for their fantasy and ocean concept, which has been praised by the general public, as well as their songs that have different music genres each comeback. They also have influences from NMIXX and LE SSERAFIM.
They are described as multinational, as they have members from South Korea, Japan, United States, China, and Vietnam, as well as being the first Fashion Enterprises group to have all members born in the 21st century.
History[]
Pre-debut[]
Kanako was a former backup dancer for 12/Virtual during their Tokyo concert. Kioka was a former member of Fairy After, as they debuted in 2018 and disbanded in 2023, she decided to stay in the company after disbandment. Sook-Ja was a former JYP Trainee who left in 2021. Brynlee was a former Ballerina. Cherika was a model for kids' clothing in China.
In July 2022, Fashion Enterprises applied for "Cherry Atlantic" trademark, which made many people rumored for Fashion Enterprises to make a new group, mainly a new girl group. A month later, in August 2022, The trademark was accepted. Later in September 2022, they announced that have plans for a new girl group in the future.
On January 20, 2023, Fashion Enterprises announced that the girl group, Cherry Atlantic will debut on Summer 2023, with them confirming that Former JYP Trainee Sook-Ja and former Ballerina Brynlee will be in it. The following day, they created a YouTube channel out of the new girl group. Later, On February 10, 2023, they posted silhouettes of the members. The girl group would have 8 members, with 2 members being added later after their debut. They conformed that the group would involve members from South Korea, Japan, and United States.
On March 2023, the members were introduced. On March 4, Angelina was the first member to be revealed, following by Kanako and Cherika on March 5, Boram and Mireya on March 6, Jina and Sook-Ja on March 7, and Brynlee on March 8. Each members' profile photos were revealed.
2023: Pre-debut single & Debut, New members added, and Comeback[]
On April 6, 2023, the group released their pre-release single "Can We Talk Again". They described "Can We Talk Again" as a Pop Ballad.
On April 12, 2023, they released each of the members' introduction videos, each showing their members lifes, and talents, including vocals, dance, rap, and many more.
On April 30, 2023, it was announced that the group would release a debut EP, "My Ocean & Candy", which will release on June 19, 2023. On May 9, 2023, the group started preparing for their debut, including filming the music video, recording the song, and etc.
They made their debut on June 19, 2023. Their debut mainly received mixed reviews, with people praising their ocean and fantasy concept and unique sound, while some criticizing their random mix of 2 songs in 1, similar to NMIXX's "O.O". Since their debut was labeled by netizens as a "flop", they ended their promotions in less than 2 weeks, however despite this, they thanked their fans for supporting them during their journey.
On July 7, 2023, it was announced that 2 new members would be added to the group. The members were announced to be Kioka, a former member of Fairy After and Tuyen, who was apart of trainee group HighSquare. They also released the 2 members' introduction videos.
On August 18, 2023, "Play+SloSlo" reached 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
On October 16, 2023, it was announced that the group will have their comeback in November, which will their first comeback as 10 members.
On November 2, 2023, it was announced that they would have their comeback on November 13, 2023, with "Welcome to the Atlantic Forest Party". Their comeback was praised for its upbeat summer vibes, which not only caused them to get more success, but it also became viral on the internet as well.
On December 1, 2023, it was announced that the group has a upcoming lightstick in the works.
2024: Destroy the Forest, Documentary, Japanese debut, Knock Knock, Christmas single[]
On February 6, 2024, it was announced that the group would have a comeback on April, a studio album. The album name was revealed to be "Destroy the Forest". On March 22, it was announced that they will release a pre-release single, "Cry for Me" which would release on April 2, 2024. The album is stated to release on April 15, 2024, with "Paint the Town" serving as the album's title track.
On May 2, 2024, it was announced that they will release their remix single album, "Paint the Town (Remixes)" on May 4.
On May 15, 2024, it was announced that there will be a documentary about the group, titled "Cherry Atlantic: The Story of the Ocean Girls", set to release on May 31, 2024.
On July 2, 2024, it was announced that they will make their Japanese debut on that month. Later, it was announced that it was titled "Breakthrough" and was also revealed it would release on July 23.
On August 8, 2024, it was announced that the group would have a comeback in October.
On August 11, 2024, it was announced that the group will have their first fanmeeting, titled "Cherry Stars' Paradise", which will take place on August 16, 2024.
On August 20, 2024, it was announced that the group will release a pre-release single, "Hann" in September. Later, it was revealed that the release date for the single will be September 27.
On late September, the EP was announced to be titled "Knock Knock" and the release date would be October 11, with "Chill Kill" serving as the title track.
On October 20, 2024, it was announced that they would release a Korean version of "Breakthrough", set to release on November 18, 2024.
On November 16, 2024, it was announced that they would release a special Christmas single, titled "Beautiful Christmas", set to release on December 9, 2024.
2025: Spicy 4 You, OCEANLOVE, TBA[]
On January 19, 2025, it was announced that Cherry Atlantic will have a comeback in March. Later the mini album was revealed to be titled "Spicy 4 You" and will release on March 24th, with "Spicy" serving as the title track. "Crazy" was also pre-released on March 14th.
On May 18, 2025, it was announced that Cherry Atlantic will release their English-language EP "OCEANLOVE" on June 16th, with "Please Please Please" serving as the title track.
