Chen wang (첸왕) is a Chinese-British singer-songwriter, streamer and actor. He made his solo debut on July 18, 2021 under MKM Media. with the mini album "Your city gave me asthma". He is gonna represent china in the Asiavision song contest 2023. Also known for having to lead "Chen & the bearded men" but now leading "Chen wang & the rejects".
Pre-debut - Ycgma era.[]
Chen's pre-debut got quite viral for his streamer personality before debuting, as he was mostly making comedy songs that not end up being released. But then on his twitter, he was hinting about making music, which fans got confused what could it be, and thats how Ycgma came to life on july 18th of 2021. The album got viral, mostly for the final track "sells,sells" that got a lot of positive reviews on his vocals, and he got a lot of fame to the point he ended up on many famous korean showcases for his debut like Music Bank, Show! Music Core and Inkigayo. Even ending up on Super K-pop radio, and getting his first festival appearances at Hallyu House Festival and K-Super Gayo Daejeon.
Side : A era : Begining[]
Chen has been dissapearing off the kpop industry for a bit, until chen annouced that he took a break and now he's back, along with a cover of Selena gomez - naturally for YCGMA's 1st anniversary. Also possibly planning for his comeback, and he annouced one song performed at hallyu house festival will be recorded in a studio version, possibly being the fall, performed at thunderland with illusion, who chen expresed his fanboying for since debut. So far a possible hint for his comeback are :
- a burning rose photo
- his first concept photo (sootlings call it : BURN)
- a track snippet (in a tweet, now deleted)
Chen on the 19th of august 2022 released the pre single Taste that that got a lot of attention. And he got his first ever win on music bank the same day, beating newjeans - hype boy (congratulations to him!)
On august 21st he joined plum, so fans can interact with him.
And out of nowhere, on august 23rd he released his second single as a suprise with a music video, titled Afterlife.
He then on the 26th released his soundcloud single "Why would i ever stop?" with a music video with fans on an Iphone in time square, as a gift for all sootlings for the support on his latest releases.
He finally released the Side A of Lovejoy on the 17th.
He mostly focused on posting on social media (tiktok, instagram, his gaming channel, music cover channel & twitch) and teased new tracks for his album.
Lovejoy : the official begining[]
With great song (ditto) after great song (28 reasons) after great song (call me what you like), the full album fully on may 12th of 2023, and chen said about the album on his first vlive of 2023 :
"i released a new single.. titled "ditto", which is a part of my long.. and i mean long album, and long awaited i believe. and i feel like "Lovejoy" is like a album exploring diffrent concepts, like for "28 reasons" i went for a creepy concept, "afterlife" zombie.. or halloween concept? kinda like purple kiss did with "zombie", i was very much inspired by that. and uh.. "ooh ahh" by twice! i love twice, they are amazing.. and like yknow, other concepts, so "ditto" is like a school concept? i wanna like have my concept on the promotional stages to be very.. high school-ish. and i have so many songs that i explore diffrent concepts on.. i wont spoil it tho. i wont (laugh) dont you think i will spoil it!"
He got 2 awards from the era itself, remarking the lovejoy era to an end.
Asiavision : a start of something new[]
On the 8th of may, Asiavision annouced their chinese entry as Chen wang with his single : "Want it all (WIA)". As he is as of now in beijing to get ready for the song contest early. And throughout his time in beijing he finally found himself in a company, under MKM Media,
But then he moved back to beijing to korea and annouced on the 6th of october he will be switching songs, still letting "Want it all" be on music streaming services, but annouced "Normal people things" as his new entry for china.

Sootlings (그을음) is chen's fandom. As being one of the many fandoms that are kind and ready to welcome new fans with open arms, they are also very obsessed with making theories about the british-chinese singer. But no matter what, if chen supports a group, the whole fandom does.

Personality[]
He is one of the many kindest people ever, ready to support the juniors and even the seniors, as well as helping his fans in any sort of way. Even tho he is the big ball of kindness some fans see him as, half of the fans believe that chen is also a complete crackhead, creating some iconic and funny moments within his career. But on stage, his energy is through the roof, his duality changes from kind and funny to hot, but with a touch of energetic when he is on stage.
