Chaeseung (채승) is a South Korean singer under BrightPalette Entertainment. She is a member of the girl group Crystal Shine.
History[]
Early Life[]
Chaeseung was born on June 19th, 1996, in Daegu, South Korea. From a young age, she had an interest in writing lyrics. This lead her to finding K-pop, and wanting to become an idol.
Predebut[]
Chaeseung joined BrightPalette Entertainment in 2014. A couple months into her training, it was announced that she and four other female trainees would be debuting as BrightPalette Entertainment's first girl group.
Career[]
On August 25th, 2014, Chaeseung debuted as the main rapper, vocalist, and face of the group of Crystal Shine. The company did not let Chaeseung write any of her own raps for the debut. This continued into their first comeback, despite Chaeseung's protests.
In 2015, Chaeseung was finally allowed to contribute to the lyrics. The change in the deeper meaning of Crystal Shine's rap lyrics were obvious, as Chaeseung's more personal writing shone through. As the group rose and fell in popularity, Chaeseung's lyrics changed with it.
In 2016, Chaeseung became the main lyricist for Crystal Shine, taking over the lyrics for singing parts as well. Although the group's popularity was unpredictable, Chaeseung's lyrics about the industry helped Crystal Shine stay afloat. She became known in nugu circles for being a lyricist with a lot of meaning and power behind her words. As time went on, and Crystal Shine's popularity began to fall, Chaeseung's lyrics fell on less and less ears.
In 2022, Chaeseung was announced to be a contestant on Star Maker 2nd Chances.
