Carboncopyluv (occasionally stylized CARBON.COPY.LUV) is a multinational all-male idol group formed by musician Rebecca Jung. The trio consists of Kyler Kim (Netherlands), Shin Wooseong (South Korea), and Isaiah Myung (Panama). They are particularly known for their idiosyncratic image and experimental discography that spans multiple genres, from R&B and bubblegum pop to dubstep and world music. Formed in 2024, Carboncopyluv made their official debut on 1 January 2025 with the single "Mayhem Situation".

NAME and IDENTITY[]

The group's name was taken from South Korean singer Han Yul's 2023 debut single "Carbon Copy Love", which is known for its catchy and repetitive chorus. Other proposed names for the group that was considered included Idiosyncratic Asymptote and Linear Motor Boy: "We know it is important for K-pop groups to have a meaningful name, but to be honest, we just wanted to go by something quirky and surface-level. So we adopted the name of a banger song. Any interpretations are welcome."

The group's main producer and founder, Rebecca Jung, calls "carboncopyluv" as her love letter to iconic trios in music such as TLC, Perfume, Babymetal, Orange Caramel, The Sugababes, Haim, Flo, and even K-pop acts such as Viviz and Loona's Odd Eye Circle:

"This project was always fixed to have three members. There's a lot of iconic female trios in the music industry this century, but outside of like, JYJ, we haven't had one yet for the men in K-pop. The market for both soloists and groups are already full, so I think there's something iconic about having a trinity in the current landscape because they can reap the benefits of both individual and group configurations."

"It's undeniable that part of Carboncopyluv's element is that while they proclaim themselves to be blank canvases starting from scratch, they somehow feel like a compelling accumulation of what makes their labelmates or other similar acts so special. They have the vocal flavor and harmonization that makes Solviz special, the unapologetically campy and mindless charms that define Randomize, the bubblegum but feisty rockstar spirit embodied by Yong Hwa's later work, the surrealistic intercultural experimentation of Xavier Luna, and the 'largely relatable yet slightly mysterious boy next door' aesthetic that is associated with Awkward Boy Syndrome. Yet, they never come across as derivative or trying too hard to replicate the quirks of others, because they always stay true to themselves and weave their personality in their outputs."

CAREER[]

Pre-debut[]

Prior to their debut, all three members of the current lineup were already active in the entertainment industry.
Shin Wooseong debuted as a member of K-pop idol boy band INFIN81 in 2017, after being one of the eleven winners of survival audition program INFINITEEZ: The Reverse Project. INFIN81 disbanded in 2024, leading him to sign with 24D Arts for solo activities. In June 1, he featured in Lady Ruby's rap single "Snob" alongside Takamura Sukima of BEAUDENT, marking his first music activity since his previous group's disbandment.
Similarly, Kyler Kim was a contestant of survival shows Sol Puzzle and Star Maker X 101, winning the latter and becoming a member of project boy group SOLUNEX.

2024[]

Prior to their reveal, Carboncopyluv had already been closely working with Rebecca Jung for artist development as early as September 2024. In November, they quietly released their pre-debut single "Nothing On But The Radio", aiming to gauge potentially organic interest in the electropop sound they were pursuing as a group.
The group's social media accounts were officially launched in December 2024, surpassing 50,000 followers in the first seven days. The group's first video on YouTube was a dramatic acapella cover of rock band The Last Children of Presagia's 2024 single "Like Nothing Mattered", catching the attention of the frontman Yoon Jihan. The group released a short acapella cover of Paek Beomjun & DEC's "I'm Your Boy?" in response to a request on TikTok, reaching over 10 million views on the platform.
On 25 December 2024, the trio released a pre-recorded cover of "Santa, Won't You Hear Me?" for their Christmas special. Just days prior, Kyler and Wooseong had released a duo cover of Yong Hwa & HARAM's "When I Grow Old" which was widely praised by Korean netizens. Isaiah would later upload a cover of The Fray's "How to Save A Life".
