History[]
2013 - 2014: Predebut[]
Throughout 2013 and 2014, Bee Entertainment started putting together a test group for their new boy group. By late 2013, a group consisting of Cho Sihyun, Yu Byunghee, Hwang Minki, Yang Chenhao, Kim Eunyeon, Lee Hyunjin, Kim Jiyeon, Jeon Minhyun, Lee Chaejin, and Kim Doyoung was decided as the first lineup for the test group. In early 2014, Yu Byunghee was removed from the lineup due to not meeting the skill standards of the rest of the group. In mid-2014, Kim Doyoung was removed from the lineup due to being considered too young to debut, as he was only 13 at the time. With the lineup of eight boys left, Bee Entertainment decided that they would be the finalized lineup.
In the test group of eight, Kim Jiyeon was decided as the test center position. The test group practiced separately from the rest of the trainees for a few months, before being told in late 2014 that they would be debuting in 2015. The center of the debut group was chosen to be Lee Hyunjin, creating a rivalry between Kim Jiyeon and him.
In early 2015, Bee Entertainment began to post teasers for their new group. Through several videos consisting of dance performances with flashlights, the group's name was rveealed as Bright Lights.
2015: Debut, LIGHT STATION, BRIGHT STATION[]
On March 27th, 2015, Bright Lights debuted with the mini-album Shining Bright, and the title track Sunshine Love. The debut had a bright and cheerful concept that showcased the fun energy of the eight boys. They also held their Debut Showcase: Shining Bright showcase on the same day as the release. Compared to the only other Bee Entertainment group at the time FPS, Bright Lights had lower sales. Nonetheless, the boys were nominated once on a music show during their promotions, and found a small fanbase through their performances.
On June 14th, 2015, Bright Lights released their first single album and second release, LIGHT STATION. The title track, Light Radio, had the same fun and quirky concept as their previous title track, certifying Bright Lights' concept as happy and playful. Despite their slowly growing popularity, the single album did not sell very well. Light Radio was quickly ignored in favour of releases by other, more popular artists.
In mid-2015, Bee Entertainment began to face financial struggles. FPS, despite finding some success the year prior, was not selling high enough to make up for Bright Lights' lower sales. As their comeback budget dropped, the members of Bright Lights took to busking. A couple of the members took up part-time jobs around practices to try and earn some money to put towards the comeback. Minhyun started making vlogs for the company's YouTube channel, in hopes that it would gain them some recognition. Surprisingly, this seemed to work. Minhyun's vlogs, which were fun behind the scenes looks into the company and its artists, found a loyal audience who were curious about the company. After a few weeks of the vlogs being posted, Bright Lights noticed a major rise in their follower numbers. The members all began participating in the vlogs, promoting the group as a whole.
On November 9th, 2015, Bright Lights released their first EP and third release BRIGHT STATION. The title track was titled Rainbow Tuning, and took a retro turn on their concept. With a fun dance and catchy vocals, the song was a hit. Bright Lights promoted it wherever they could, busking between promotion schedules. It sold much higher than their previous two releases. Despite this, Bee Entertainment still couldn't find financial stability, and Bright Lights seemed to be hanging on the edge of disbandment.
Surprisingly, Bright Lights received the Rookie of the Year award at the Shining Groove Awards. The members hadn't realized how much of a popularity boost the vlogs gave them. They also received the Rookie of the Year award of the Seoul Music Performance Awards.
2016: US AS WE LOVE, First Tour, The Bright Boys, The Light Boys[]
On April 26th, 2016, Bright Lights released their second mini-album and fourth release, US WE US LOVE. The title track of the same name is a dance track with a bit of a Latin music influence. It was a change from their previous cheerful concepts, but the group pulled it off well. The release managed to sell over 100k copies on its first day, which was way higher than BRIGHT STATION. The song proved to be a hit, topping a couple charts. Bright Lights received their first win for the song as well. Through the dance of the song, a viral trend was created. Bright Lights found themselves being invited to several different variety shows as well. Through this release, they saved Bee Entertainment from finacial ruin.

This shift in concept for the comeback wasn't as well-received as Bright Lights wanted, but the song did perform well among dancers.
From January 24th, 2017, until April 24th, 2017, Bright Lights held their 12 show South Korea tour, ILLUMINATE US Tour 2017. As they did in 2016, Bright Lights chose smaller venues so that they could hold more shows. With the finale in Gocheok Sky Dome, Bright Lights drew in large audience numbers.

On November 4th, 2017, Bright Lights released their third mini-album and ninth release Really In Love. The whole release was focused on a chic concept with a cute influence, with the title track, Shine Like Me, displaying this fully. Lightstick[]
Bright Lights' lightstick is called Brightstick. The Brightstick is notorious for somehow having a problem in every version.
Version 1[]
Brightstick Version 1 has a very simple design. A pink base leads up to a yellow, crystal shapred light covered by a clear plastic dome. There are two buttons on the base, one being the on/off button and the other being the "extra bright" button. Fans disliked the boring design of the Brightstick Version 1, but the main problem was with the "extra bright" button. Bright Lights took their name way too seriously, and the Brightstick Version 1's brightness in "extra bright" mode makes it one of the brightest lightsticks on the market.
Version 2[]
Due to not wanting to blind their fans with the brightness of the lightstick, Brightstick Version 2 dimmed the "extra bright" mode. Fans complained that this made the Brightstick Version 2 more boring. On top of that, the design was changed. Instead of the already boring design with the crystal light, it was changed to a simple glowing yellow orb inside. There was some glitter on the clear dome, but the rest of the design was nothing inventive or creative.
Version 3[]
Brightstick Version 3 managed to find a much better design. The pink base was now shaped like a flashlight, with interesting glitter patterns on it. At the top of the Brightstick Version 3 was the clear dome again, but this time it was more prism shaped rather than being a dome. The glowing orb was replaced with the crystal light again, and had glitter in the inside of the top part that made shaking the Brightstick Version 3 very fun. To go with the glitter theme, the wristbands were made glittery too. This made them quite scratchy, and fans did not enjoy wearing them, even though they are for safety.
Version 4[]
Brightstick Version 4 kept most of the design of the previous design. The wristband was changed to a much nicer material. The main on/off switch was changed to look like a lightswitch, although the "extra bright" button was not changed. Although the design looked great, due to some changes in the clear prism at the top, the whole top part had a tendency to fall off. Fans began taping the tops of their lightsticks to avoid this problem.
