Kang Balam (Hangul: 강바람), known mononymously as Balam , is a South Korean-Australian rapper under The XOXO Label. She is a member of the girl group Viridian.
Career[]
Early life & Pre-debut activities[]
Jessica Kang, born on August 5, 2001, in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, grew up with a love for music and the outdoors. Starting dance lessons at age six, she quickly excelled and became known for her stage presence. In her teens, she discovered K-pop and was inspired to pursue a career in the industry. At 17, Jessica auditioned for Brisco Entertainment, and after receiving an offer, she made the decision to move to Seoul in late 2018 to begin her trainee period. Her dedication led to her participation in the survival show Universe Viridian, which aired from February to May 2020.
2020: Universe Viridian & Debut[]
On January 19, 2020, Jessica was introduced as a contestant on Brisco Entertainment & The XOXO Label's upcoming girl group survival show, Universe Viridian, as Kang Balam. On May 5, she was announced as the second member of Viridian.
Balam made her debut with Viridian on July 20, 2020, with the group's first digital single, "Whispers of Serendipity".
