Baek Taejoon (Korean: 백태준), known professionally as just Taejoon (태준), is a South Korean singer and dancer under SPARK Factory. He is a member of the project boy group NEOFLARE, formed through 60SPARK.
Career[]
2022–2023: 60SPARK, debut with NEOFLARE[]
On October 1, during Episode 0 of 60SPARK, it was confirmed that he would be a contestant in the show.
In the first challenge, when the trainees were split into 6 groups of 10 to perform a cover song each, Taejoon was put into Group 4 who were covering MATRYIX's "Poison". His group later placed first for that round, with Taejoon receiving a Spark for being the highest-scoring member.
In the second round, a girl group song VS, Taejoon was the captain for Group A, who were performing EIZA's "EZ!". Taejoon was seen as very playful with Qin Yusheng, who joked along with and even had a high note battle with. Group A later won against Group B for the second round.
In the 1 vs 1 vs 1 Battle, Taejoon was in a battle with Shizuwa Jun and Kim Liam, where he showed off a variety of the facial expressions he can make. He later placed 2nd, with Kim Liam placing 1st. During the first eliminations, he was a part of the 2nd group of five proceeding contestants, where he accidentally cringed at one of Tatsumaru Kairi's cute poses.
In the Concept Battle, Taejoon was a member, and the center, of Group 4, who performed "멋진 척해 (Play it Cool)" (Prod. Lee Minwoo). His group later placed 3rd for that round.
In the Theme Song Battle, he was a member of Group 2, who collectively wrote a bridge and a full chorus. His group later placed 1st for that round.
For the next challenge, a 1 vs 1 solo battle challenge, Taejoon—as a Spark Master—chose Lim Jieon as his Challenger since the two of them shared a playful rivalry while singing karaoke. During their 1 vs 1 battle, they performed "Untied Knots" by Geonu, where Taejoon's expressiveness and facial expressions impressed everyone. Taejoon was later announced as both the winner and fan favourite for that battle.
In the finale, Taejoon was revealed to be within the top 5 on the Spark Leaderboard, with 10 Sparks. During this episode, it was announced that he placed sixth overall, joining the final debut group, NEOFLARE, as the group's Main Vocalist and Dancer.
Personality[]
Taejoon is a very down-to-earth and easygoing person. He's hard to get to know at first due to how reserved he is, but after cracking past his shy and quiet outer shell using patience and acceptance, he becomes much more open and cheerful than initially perceived. Classifying himself as an introvert, Taejoon is the type of person to value his time alone since excess energy and noise can easily wear him out.
When it comes to getting things done, Taejoon sometimes struggles to hone his focus since he easily gets distracted. Because of this, procrastination often gets the better of him and as a result, he finishes things either very late where they end up rushed or he doesn't finish things at all.
