BUMIRAS (부미라스) was a five-member South Korean girl group formed by Haejung Entertainment and debuted under SRD Entertainment. They debuted as five members on August 31, 2008, with the full album BUZ MIRAS. They officially disbanded on November 20, 2021, after an announcement was made on November 1 with their official activities concluding on the aforementioned date.
While the group was known as Korea's biggest group at the time, the group experienced constant lineup changes and concerns over the management of the group.
Concept[]
Concept[]
The group followed a "level" system, where each comeback will demonstrate a new side of themselves, referred to as "levels". If a member (or members) was deemed "unsuitable" for the group's future comebacks, the member would consequently be removed and replaced with a "fitting" member. This caused huge backlash against the company for exploiting their idol's dreams because they did not meet their concept requirements.
Name[]
The name BUMIRAS is an anagram of Bariums, a chemical element. The name has been noted as one of K-Pop's "worst group names of all time" due to the name not making sense at all.
History[]
Pre-debut[]
The group was announced by CEO Heo Yeoryeon on May 28, 2006. The group planned to consist of popular vocalist Kim Aeri, choreographer Bong Layeon, actress Go Chaewon, and trainees Cheon Chulda and Park Eunjoo. An additional member, former YSM member Bang Miyeon was scheduled to be added to the group, however she would leave the agency due to "differences in creative directions".
