B.yeol (별) is a South Korean trainee under Bee Entertainment. He is a member of the group VALERIAN.
History[]
Early Life[]
Jeon Hyunseo was born on April 26th, 2006, in Seoul, South Korea. Not much is known about Hyunseo’s early life. His parents have mentioned that Hyunseo has always loved making other people smile.
Hyunseo developed an interest in dance through a dance crew at his middle school. He auditioned for the dance crew despite not having any experience in dance, and was accepted into the crew. The dance crew performed a lot of original choreography with a focus on hip-hop routines. Along with original choreography, some of the dance crew members put together K-pop dance covers. Hyunseo participated in a lot of the K-pop covers, which were posted to the dance crew’s YouTube channel along with their other performances. Hyunseo continued with the dance crew members in high school as the dance crew shifted to not being a school club.
Hyunseo decided to audition for Bee Entertainment in 2021 because he became a fan of rm8z’s Yeon Su and wanted to become an idol at the same company as him.
Predebut[]
In January 2022, Hyunseo was announced to have joined Bee Entertainment as a part of the SUNSET BEES along with Kang Yeoyoung, Shiraishi Takumi, and Oh Jinsung. In March 2022, the test group for VALERIAN was stabilized before it was finalized in the middle of the year. Hyunseo was selected to be in the finalized lineup. At the 2022 Bee Entertainment Trainee Showcase, Hyunseo performed Walk With Confidence by D.IV.ERGENT in the A+ unit and performed Levitating by Dua Lipa as a part of the dance team. Hyunseo caught the attention of a lot of attendees, as it was highly unusual for a trainee to be in the A+ unit in their first year of training. Hyunseo was a background dancer for rm8z’s HOLIDAY and performed in the song’s music video. He also performed as a background dancer for HOLIDAY and Teenage Lovesick at rm8z TAKE A HOLIDAY 2022 Concert Tour in Seoul and Jeju.

Personality[]
B.yeol is very free-spirited and has a sense of childlike wonder to him. He earned the nickname “duckling” because of his personality. B.yeol will follow around anyone he thinks is cool or admirable. This led him to join Bee Entertainment, due to him wanting to follow in the steps of Yeon Su from rm8z. Oliver has mentioned that B.yeol followed him around a lot when they were trainees, and continues to follow him around as a member of VALERIAN. B.yeol really admires Oliver for his skill, and wants to be like him. B.yeol is a bit oblivious to the world around him and Shuren has said that B.yeol “has no idea what’s going on but he’s enjoying it”. B.yeol is said to be very oblivious to his own skill and doesn’t think much of how good he is at singing and dancing. He also does aegyo all the time much to the annoyance of the other members.
B.yeol, despite seeming like he’s oblivious to everything, is very aware of his role as the maknae and the privileges he gains from the position. He uses his innocent image to get away with things that the other members wouldn’t, such as taking an unreasonable amount of tiny naps during long practices. Oliver said that B.yeol uses “emotional manipulation” in order to steal food from the older members and that it’s very easy to fall for it.
B.yeol is very soft-spoken, but that doesn’t deter from his chaos. He has mentioned that he used to be really calm before he became friends with Kang Yeoyoung and that Yeoyoung’s chaotic nature rubbed off on him. B.yeol tends to expend his energy way too quickly, and when he does, he matches the energy of the other high energy members of VALERIAN.
