B.O.S.S (보스) is a former K-Pop boy group under Olympic Records. Originally debuting as a quartet, the group underwent various line-up changes before disbanding in 2006 as a trio.

From 2018-2020, the group reunited as a four-piece using their real names. When asked about the future of their activities, leader Jisoon alluded to another comeback in a few years.

History[]

2000[]

In February 2000, Mountain Peak Plaza announced the debut of their premiere boy group. Intended to be a brother group to their existing girl group Snowfall, the company announced the name B.O.S.S at a press conference.

As the members were teased, each was given a name that was synonymous with power and might; something Mountain Peak Plaza expressed would be their goal with the group. All members debuted at the age of sixteen - a reference to powerful numbers. Members Serpent (Park ◯), Celestian (Lee Eun-Pyo), Mt. Kimji (Kim Ji-Soon) & Maze (Hwang Sang-Bong) were teased until their debut in March, 2000.

Leader at the time, Serpent, confirmed that B.O.S.S stood for Best Of Super Sounds but also alluded to the secondary etymologic reason of wanting to 'lead the industry.'

2002[]

In January 2002, Mountain Peak Plaza announced that trainee Kim ◯ would be joining the group to transform the lineup into a quintet. Kim debuted at their New Years' concert under the stage name Colossus.

It was with this five-member line-up that the group would experience a considerable increase in their popularity.

2003[]

Following some personal losses within his family, member Colossus chose not to renew his annual contract and chose to remain firmly outside of the public eye.

2004[]

Leader Serpent was removed for the line-up after him announcing his intent to end his contract with Mountain Peak Plaza. What initially began as cordial talks between member and company shifted after Serpent went on a self-admitted 'smear campaign' for reparations of humiliation in his late teen years. Following what many fans to this day consider to be a favourable pay out, Park ◯ retired from public life. Member Mt. Kimji was promoted to leader in the months following.

Fourteen year-old trainee, Ryu Duck-Gyu, was announced as Serpent's replacement. Donning the stage name Titan, B.O.S.S' new maknae's debut coincided with the release of a new album.

2005[]

Eager to replicate the success of a quintet B.O.S.S, the newly renamed Olympic Records announced the addition of trainee Kwon Chan-Wook to the line-up. Debuting under the stage name Stallion, Kwon would be the last addition to the group's lineup.

In September 2005, member Celestian was a victim in a DUI incident having been driving home from his partner's apartment. Announced deceased by the time first responders were able to reach the vehicle, Lee's death was highly covered.

He left behind a girlfriend and later a pair of twins.

Following the loss of Lee Eun-Pyo, new member Stallion was released from his contract and left the group citing the inability to cope with the grief.

The final line-up of Mt. Kimji, Maze & Titan would remain until the group's disbandment the following year.

2006[]

The group released one final album in the new year of 2006 as a trio before disbanding quietly. Members Mt. Kimji & Maze would leave Olympic Records whilst Titan stayed, debuting as a soloist two years later.

2018-2020[]

Members Mt. Kimji, Stallion, Maze & Titan reunited for a two year contract and reformed the group using their birth names. Frequently, the group's MVs would show imagery of five and allude to the feeling of missing somebody.

New leader, Jisoon, revealed that both Park ◯ and Kim ◯ had been contacted in regards to the reunion and if they desired to promote together again. He alluded to Park vehemently denying and indicating that the relationship between the former leader and the members was negative. Kim ◯, on the other hand, seemingly planned to join before deciding against it but supporting it from social media.

The group announced their hiatus in 2020 following the end of their two-year contract. When asked if they would reunite again, member Jisoon alluded to the number 4; another powerful number that many have taken a hint as to indicating 2024 being their comeback.
