Hallyufest[]

Hallyufest is Korea Republic's national final organised by KBS every year in Hangang Center, Seoul.

Voting System[]

The result is retermined by two set of votes, first one from professional jury consisting of 10 korean music stars. Each member of the jury gives 1, 2, 3 and 5 points to songs of their choice, making 50 points the highest receivable score. The second half of the score is based on viewer SMS vote, which is later transformed into points equal to total jury points (110 distributable points). The entry with largest total score is officialy chosen to represent Korea Republic in Asiavision Song Contest. Since 2023 the voting system also includes additional 7 points rank, raising largest receivable jury score to 70 points and total distributable televote points to 180 points.

The first Hallyufest was held on July 4th, 2022. 6 artists participated in the live-broadcasted competition. Theme colors of the festival were black and magenta and the MC was member of k-pop group MINT - Won Kyubok. The professional jury consisted of 10 top k-pop artists: Baekhyun (EXO), Bangchan (StrayKidz), HyunA, Irene (Red Velvet), J-Hope (BTS), Jennie (BlackPink), Jessi, Nayeon (Twice), PSY and Wonho. The show also included performances of the MC himself covering "Voila" by Barbara Pravi (ESC2021 France), guest performances from other Asiavision competitors (Samira Yeter from Turkey and Lim Sangwon from Philippines) and participants of Eurovision Song Contest 2022, LUM!X & Pia Maria (Austria), Konstrakta (Serbia) and Sheldon Riley (Australia). The show was finished with winner's performance. The winner - Yejoon in Asiavision Song Contest finished as 4th in the grand final, receiving 207 points, 143 (3rd place) from professional jury and 64 (10th place) from the public vote.

KBS decided to continue the national final in 2023 to select it's another representative and succesor of Yejoon. In the same venue, on July 9th, 2023. This time 7 acts competed to represent the country in the contest in Beijing. The show was hosted by previous year's top 3 competitors: Geonu, Oxanne and Yejoon. The ten-memebr jury this year consisted of three returning jurors: Bangchan, HyunA and PSY and seven new ones: Jisoo (BlackPink), Suga (BTS), Taeyeon, Jay Park, JYP, Soyeon ((G)I-DLE) and CL. The show was be opened by last year's Korean entry performance and all MCs together performing "Lucky Day" by Doredos (ESC2018 Moldova). The interval act included performances of Asiavision 2023 competitors (Joyous from Philippines, Nelyah from Kazakhstan and haku. from Indonesia), special guest Christian Lee (ASC2022 Australia) and last year's Asiavision winner - Mia Lee. The show ended with winner's performance. The winner - MIIX in Asiavision Song Contest finished as 13th in the grand final, receiving 104 points, 104 (4th place) from professional jury and 0 (tied last with Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam) from the public vote.
